Mansions by the Vineyard
< | >
I haven't moved out yet but I will be on my guard after reading about some of the bogus charges posted on here. All in all, this is a nice place but if you're young and single, then you might want to consider somewhere else. This place is pretty nice for families. I had a small problem with ants which I fixed myself because their pest guy barely did anything when the problem was reported. He just came in and squirted something on the floor. It was nothing a can of raid can't fix. I never saw any roaches here.
The reason I will be moving is because of the price. It is quite hefty for me. Yes, you get a garage and all but it is still steep. Plus, I want to be much closer to Dallas. The area is nice and I have never had an issue with safety anywhere on here. The gates are nice and work most of the time. The pool areas are nice. The exercise room is better than any other apartment places I have seen. The staff is friendly and are there seven days a week. I have never had a problem with them. The maintenance guys are really nice as well. Also, it is very energy efficient in the summer. Not once have I had an electric bill exceeding $80. Most of the electric bills have been around $50/mo.
If you're married and want a quiet place with garages and whatnot, then this is a nice place.

Hey DallasSooner --
I'm a former Mansions resident. I agree with your review. It's a nice place - nothing incredible and perhaps a little hyped. My wife and I enjoyed having a 2-Car garage in one of their 2 bedroom models.
If you want to stay in the same area, may I suggest looking into the Mandolin. They only have 1 car garages and 1-3 bedrooms, but it's a nice community with better parking and SLIGHTLY cheaper rates.
We really loved the location of the Mansions - I lived there almost 2 years while single and then married. I agree too - the exersize room was great and the pools were a lot of fun - the lap pool was perfect as it was usually empty while the pool by the clubhouse was a good place to relax with friends. The energy efficiency varies from apartment to apartment by my findings - depending on top floor / bottom floor and which direction you're facing and which building you are in.
And yes, watch out for moving out costs. Follow all normal procedures - such as going to Home Depot and replacing the plates on your stove ... if in doubt, hire THEIR preferred concierge cleaning service (so that if they claim it's not clean, you can justify why it IS). It also wouldn't hurt to invite them to do a walk through before you move out with you there in person.
