Roaches & the stench of pet excrement on outside

I just moved in to Post Oak Place. First, I was taken to a different apartment to view before I was told that it was suddenly leased out and unavailable. The one that I did move into has new carpet, new paint job, but the positives end there. There are roaches everywhere, and I hate them. I have a feeling this is going to be an ongoing battle for the duration of my lease. Also, on the outside of the front door, there is the smell and stench of pet droppings which has never been raked up and cleaned. It seems as if the prior resident had pets & even inside the apt, new carpet can't cover up the disgusting odor of pet excrement. I want to get off to a good start on my end and should be excited with this new place to live, but we're off to a slow start. If mgmt offers you an apt, check it out first before accepting the deal. You should be in control, not them. I'll put in a request to have these issues corrected and will keep you informed....By the way, I need a new screen door & the kitchen faucet leaks, too.
