You do not want to live here

Years at this apartment: 2005 - 2007
I have lived here since May 2005. It was not too bad during the first year, typical apartment living. I lived in a smaller one bedroom the first year, then transferred to a larger one in July of 2006. The transfer was horrible. They were just starting the massive "upgrade" campaign, and no one in the office seemed to have any clue as to what my new rent was going to be. I was told something different every day I asked over a 2 week period.
I finally had to sit in the office for over an hour and haggle about every little thing, then get it in writing. Even then they tried to put a higher price on the paperwork when it came time to sign the new lease, or left off upgrades that they had already agreed to.
Once I got through that nightmare and had a move in date set, they put the wrong move in day on the paperwork! So I had movers showing up, and found out when I went to get the keys that the apartment would not be ready until the next day. I asked to be compensated for the mover's fee, and suddenly there was a big rush put on and they did get the apartment ready that day after all.
For a few months last summer it looked like they were really trying to clean the place up.
Then they put out notices saying a new management company has taken over. It has been nothing but downhill since then.
The complex is disentegrating before my eyes on a daily basis. There are two massive potholes in the drive way leading to the exit gate, and no attempts have been made to repair them. I am not speaking about little holes, I mean huge holes that will break your axle if you hit one. I called to ask when they would be repaired, and was told that they were aware of it, but other things had priority. I am not sure what the higher priorities are, since nothing is getting done.
They used to have a porter that picked up trash through out the complex every day. No longer. Now there is trash everywhere.
The fence around the dumpster is barely standing, and has more panels missing than not.
The apartment above me has been empty for months, yet there is still trash, a nasty rusting smoker, and Christmas lights on the patio!
The apartment across from me has also been empty for several months, yet it was left with a broken window. That was just "fixed" a few days ago (by fixed I mean that they taped plastic over it), but the apartment has been getting rained in for over 10 weeks now.
I love my apartment, but I just can't stand the complex any longer. It is horrible. The management company simply does not care, and it shows.
I am moving as soon as my lease is up, and I strongly suggest to anyone considering renting here to NOT DO IT.
