UPDATE 05/12/03: Well, now there?s more to add to the list of reasons NOT to rent at Coffee Creek: On Wed. May 7, there were numerous car break in?s at the complex. And on Mon. May 12, I had a notice on my door that there had been a purse snatching within the complex at building #8. Now doesn?t this just sound like such a wounderful, safe, and happy place to live' This place makes me sick, but not for much longer... thank GOD!!

This complex is aweful, and I have the FACTS (not opinions or speculation) that prove it.

First, the security gates: You have to have a gate card to get in, that in it?s self is not a problem. But, if you leave the complex with a friend or guest and forget to take your gate card with you to get back in, you are out of luck. You?ll be stuck outside the gates with no way in. I asked the leasing agent if there was a gate code I could enter to open the gate if I forgot or lost my card. She rudely said there is a code, but I could not have it. It is for police and fire use only and the residents could not have access to the code because they did not want the residents to give the code out to all of their friends.

But this is only a problem when the gates actually work. Quite often either the entrance gate or the exit gate is broken. They are usually repaired within a week or so, but are then usually broken again within a week or so, I?m thinking maybe by residents who can?t get into their OWN HOME.

Now the noise: There are so many people here that love to pull up in their cars at all hours of the day and night with their car stereos blasting at full volume. I hate being waken at 2am by some idiot that doesn?t have the common decency to turn down their radio when entering the complex, and believe me... there are a lot of those idiots here. And many of these same idiots also think the parking lot is a race track. I see so many people racing in and out of this complex at 30 & 40 mph. I?m just waiting for one of these idiots to run over a kid on a bicycle because he/she is going way too fast and not paying attention. Mark my words, it WILL happen sooner or later. THIS IS THE LAST PLACE ON EARTH YOU WANT TO LIVE IF YOU HAVE KIDS.

Now the crime and lack of safety: Just last week a friend of mine had his spare tire stolen off his new truck. I know of many incidents where residents have had there cars broke into and their belongings stolen. And there has been muggings within the complex also. A couple of years ago a lady came home from work late at night and a car followed her into the complex through the security gates. When she parked, the car blocked her in and a man got out of the passenger side and demanded her purse. She struggled with the man, and was hanging on to her purse and the robbers car as they drug her about 50 yards through the parking lot before she fell off the car at high speed onto the hard concrete. If anyone claims this is a safe place to live, I suggest they check the FACTS. I?ve seen people shooting up drugs in a car right in front of my apartment. I?ve seen people smoking pot in their car out in front of my apartment. I?ve seen a man fighting with a woman where he picked her up and then slammed her to the ground. I?m sorry, but this is by no means a safe place to live at all.

Now my apartment: I have huge cracks in my walls at the top corners of my windows, and my back door doesn?t shut properly due to the foundation shifting. In the winter, when the cold north wind blows I can feel the cold air coming in under the base boards. I?ve reported my dish washer being broken twice now and maintenance wrote on their work order, and I quote, "DISHWASHER NEEDS REPLACEMENT." Well that was about 2 months ago and it still has not been fixed or replaced. Also, the rain gutters have fallen off the front of my building and were never put back up, so now if I leave my apartment when it?s raining I get soaked by the water running off the roof.

It seems as though the management here doesn?t care what goes on at this complex. Nothing is ever done to resolve the problems here. Lisa was the only person in the office that ever tried to take care of the residents needs, but now she?s gone and this place just keeps getting worse and worse. The new management is a total joke. The people that have said how wonderful it is to live here must not have been here very long or else they never come outside of their apartment to see what is actually happening around here. All I can say to the people that claim they like it here is "more power to ya", I think it?s time to pull your head out of the sand. As for me, I?ve had enough of this hell hole and can?t wait to get out of here!
