i chose this complex based on many, many decisions: closet space, sun and wind direction towards my apartment, surrounding area, police reports, pools, management, square foot to price ratio.. the list goes on. i went through at least 20 other apartments on hulen and the surrounding areas, and none were as nice as this one for the money. the management(and their massive collection of awards on their desks) were my final decision to live here, after viewing the apartment, coming back at night to check it out and talking to other people that already lived here. the management worked with me on my credit problems and the first time i looked at the place, i noted a few things that needed to be fixed with it. they fixed everything just a few days later when i came back to check it out. being a young single female i feel completely safe in the gated community and the neighbors that i have met so far have been really nice and very helpful(my downstairs neighbor even helped me lug a huge entertainment center up my stairs when she saw i was having problems with it). the only bad reviews i have read about this complex that have any validity are about the noise. hi, you live on hulen. there's going to be noise on hulen, no matter what time of day or night it is. you have to consider this when you move to a busy street like that. if you live on the side of the complex next to the train tracks and you don't enjoy the extremely occasional train passing by, you should have picked somewhere else before signing the lease. apparently whoever had complaints about the noise didn't take into consideration the amount of traffic that goes by on hulen day in and day out. i don't mind the noise one bit, i've lived directly on busy streets just minutes away from fire stations and police stations before so i'm quite accustomed to the rare amount of sirens and honking i hear. the walls seem pretty thick, but i haven't really tested it out yet. (how can you do that really, without pissing off your neighbor') the apartment i moved into had brand new plush carpet, new countertops that look like granite and nice tile floors in the kitchen and the sunroom the bathroom was also exquisite with the new lighting and mirror. i'm so happy to have new amenities coming from a 25 year old apartment that needs fixing regularly. when i first got the keys, i noticed a few dead bugs on the ground that looked like someone had just opened up the windows one day when the apartment was vacant and a few came in and promptly died. i have yet to encounter any bug problems as dreadful as what another review was describing, and i think it goes without saying that as long as you keep your apartment clean, bugs tend to stay out. i have no problem with the parking situation, being on a corner of the lot i have a good amount of parking to choose from if i can't find a spot right in front of my own apartment. this is great, coming from a community that i had to park a good 200 feet from my apartment and walk the rest of the way, all the time. the laundry room looks clean and as well kept-up as any other, the few times i have stuck my head in there. the pools are beautiful and the circle around the complex is great for joggers, being almost exactly a quarter of a mile around. everything is five minutes away from me and i love that. all i can say is give this place a shot, you won't be disappointed. just keep in mind that it is on hulen and there will be regular city noise and hustle and bustle all around you. if that's not your scene, try going further south on hulen or around the monticello area.
