OK until you decide to move out!

My wife and I lived in Enclave at City View for 2 years. We were here for the management change. We started having to pay water and garbage...and they raised the rent during this time.
We were willing to deal with these changes as long as the people in the office remained helpful and our work requests were fixed in a timely manner. Unfortunately, these things changed as well. As one reviewer said, the people in the office don't know what is going on half the time. The only thing they know for certain is how much money should be coming to them. A work request would sometimes take weeks for anyone to come. Our dishwasher was broken for over a week, and then when he finally fixed it...the thing would shake the entire kitchen floor while making a very loud whining noise. He fixed one problem and we got 2 more. Our building also started having a ton of power outages...which was never fixed.
But you know, even after all that we still felt like it was an OK place to live. Here is where the true colors of the management start to shine through:
My wife and I have lived in 2 seperate floor plans while living at Enclave. At the end of the first lease we informed them we wanted to switch to a bigger floor plan. (Keep in mind that while most apts. want a 30 day move out notice, Enclave INSISTS on a 60)
We made our requests known well past the 60 day dead line, but because we were "renewing" with them...they not only didn't punish us, they gave us a break on our rent for the next month's rent on the new apartment.
Once that lease was up, my wife and I decided to move closer to Dallas. But before we could move we had to give the 60 day notice to move. Based on the way the Enclave acted about the first 60 day notice, we didn't think anything about turning our notice in a week late. Especially since they are able to rent out our floor plan in a matter of 2 weeks. But this time, since we were leaving the Enclave they put a letter on our door saying we violated the notice rule and we owe them another month and 1/2 rent past our move out date. Which came out to $715. Plus, all these threats if we didn't pay. Whether we are living in the apartment or not.
You see it was all fine and good to go a little past the 60 day notice as long as we were living here. But if you are moving out, and they know you aren't going to be giving them money anymore...they will try and gouge you as much as they can before you move.
Trying to talk to them about maybe lowering the price was pointless. No matter what we offered to do, all they could say is..."we can't do anything, it is already in the computer." Knowing damn well they could lower it if they wanted.
I very strongly suggest against moving to the Enclave at City View. There are just too many apartments in the area that have better management...and aren't out to squeeze every dollar out of you.
