Changes to cause a move

Havenwood has been my home for 5 years and I have enjoyed living here.
Water has always been free but changes will mean being billed for water by NATIONAL WATER AND POWER (www.nwpsc.com)
The letter we all received gives NO information on charges so I went to their site. Lo and behold no cost info there either. They DO indicate that there will be a one time set up fee for EVERY resident but don't say how much that is.
They also say they will charge a monthly service fee but again, they don't say how much that is.
Using a DEBIT card with Visa or Mastercard logo's to pay will cost you an extra $2.50
every time you pay.
Since these units do not have individual meters we will be billed using a method called:
"Ratio Utility Billing",
This means you pay a percentage of the water used in the whole complex. If you are single, in a on bedroomed apartment then you will also pay for some of the water used by all other residents even if they have several kids.

Another change to the least is a requirement of SIXTY (60) days notice to vacate instead of the usual 30 days.

When you add these factors to the very real problem of the complex seeming to have lowered the criteria for living here, evidenced by some of the newer residents, it would indicate that a change of residence is on the cards, certainly for me and no doubt some of the other long term residents.

I, too, was concerned about the new water charges, but was pleasantly surprised to see my first month of water to be $7.50 for a one bedroom apartment. There was no setup fee. This was more than reasonable, in my book. Plus, you can just pay the apartment complex with your normal rent check. You don't have to pay the water company separately.

Oh really? Well that's not too bad at all and I didn't know that you could add it to the rent. I wish they'd have said that in the letter. I'm still uneasy about the 60 day notice and they now require that you have them inspect your washer and drier before you use them (mine are brand new) AND have renters insurance. I don't mind the new rules if the complex was like it was 2 years ago but, sadly it's not. I hate the thought of moving but some of the neighbors are so noisy after 10:30pm, have 3 or 4 vehicles for a ONE bedroom, hang laundry over the balcony rail and work on the vehicles in the parking lot. I can get THAT anywhere:-)
