If you like living in a college dorm full of disgusting kids and horrible staff this place is for you. This classic highrise had such potential to be a great building, but unfortunately the owners live in Wisconsin and have virtually no idea how bad this building's condition is in.
When someone throws up in the hallway or leaves a rotting bag of fast food in the stairwell (a weekly occurrence), you notice it still there days later. The staff is inattentive and almost never present. Ask anyone who has tried to have a showing in that building. The one solitary girl who works there is literally there about 2 hours a week.
The laundry facilities are horrible. You have three loads of laundry, and find out the hard way that four of the six driers are broken.
The residents are mostly all college-age kids who don't care at all about the building. Walk down any hallway and you're guaranteed to smell pot eminanting from someone's apartment. There's a reason they have Glade Plug-ins in the hallway!
The garage is a mess. Very tight parking for the lucky few who actually get to park in the building itself -- everyone else has to park in the bank's parking garage across the street. There used to be a tunnel that connected the garage but "due to 9/11" it's sealed. Are they afraid someone is going to go underground and bomb the paved street above'
Maintenance is nonexistant. When I was there they had a guy with a heart condition who told me he couldn't reach too high, so therefore it's hard for him to fix the boiler. Sheesh.
The dumb kids there love to pull the fire alarm at late hours waking the whole building. The alarm will not go off until the fire dept arrives and does a full inspection. Hilarious at 3am.
One more thing. Two suicides and one murder have occured while I lived there. It's pretty chilling when you learn one of your neighbors jumped out their window to kill themselves. The building tries to silence that kind of news, but when you see twelve emergency vehicles outside your building, something is up.
The only plus about this place is the location to all the fun downtown stuff, but otherwise it is a crying shame they trashed this once-beautiful office building and made it such a disgusting place. DO NOT move there. There will be tons of other affordable places downtown soon enough.
