problems with management changes

I have lived here for over 1 1/2 years. I just recently tried to get out of my lease due to a move out of town for school. I thought I had approached management in the right manner when I called them as soon as I could to let them know my situation and that I wanted to handle this in the best way possible for both parties. I have never received an eviction notice or broken lease before so I thought that this would be possible. The first 3 times I contacted the office I had gotten different, confusing answers regarding their break-lease policy. I was told by a manager that I would be responsible for 2 months rent plus a reletting fee. When I called back to see if I could find out the corporate office number, I reached a staff member Amber. She convinced me that this wasn't a bad situation and that they were in need of my 1 bedroom anyways.

After working out a deal with complete transparency (I let them know in advance that November's rent would not be paid) Amber told me that I could turn in my keys as soon as possible and I would be responsible for November's rent and the reletting fee. I could also make a payment arrangement for that. On the day I was to turn in the keys to Amber, I arrived at the office just at the end of the day and Amber had already left. The apartment manager was there, and long story short the conversation did not go well. The manager had no idea about my arrangement and was very defensive. She even made the statement that I had decided to break-lease my own way and had made up my mind before I even came in to talk to her. Pretty much word for word.

I don't know what else to do, I followed their rules and I still got screwed.

You need to contract the owner of DMJ Management in North Richland Hills.
