I went to apply for an apartment after have viewing it 2 weeks prior, not only did the second leasing agent show me the wrong floor plan for my lease under the impression it was the same floor plan, she also did not explain the terms for their "non refundable" deposit. I was open about rental history with both leasing agents I worked with and was even instructed by one of the leasing agents (agent #2) not to put information on my application. My application was rejected but the same leasing agent told me due to the circumstances I should receive a refund of my deposit because I wasn t moving in and hadn t lied on my application I would just need to speak to her manager. The manager denied my refund and after pleading with her she gave me the number for corporate, and told me to call them. The person I was in contact with at the corporate office made it clear that she was not used to dealing with this property because she hadn t been working with them for long. After they gave me the run around and being routed back and forth I requested a letter stating why I was not receiving refund from the corporate office. I was denied until I insisted and told the woman that legally they had to give me a written reason as to why they would not refund my deposit. I was told by corporate I could obtain a copy of all documents signed with no problem from the property and would see information about security deposits on back of TAA form. When I arrived back at the property Friday April 27th (the same day I was told to go) to pick them up the leasing agent there could not find my file. She called and spoke to the lady in corporate and it was found. Then I was refused a copy of the back of the TAA application I signed, she would not let me view the forms, or even give me a letter stating they would not release the info to me. I even asked her if I could just review a blank form so I could see what it was. The leasing agent just kept saying she would get fired if she gave me any more information. The representative for the corporate office would call while I was in the office but she wouldn t give the leasing agent permission to provide the rest of the contracts and/or forms as she promised the previous day. I requested to speak with her but she told the leasing agent to tell me she was busy with therapy and did not have the time to deal with me (even though she called at least 4 times while I was at the property). She finally called back and told the leasing agent to tell me to come back Monday April 30th (my move date) and she would give me a copy of the back of the TAA form. I told her she had already told me the forms would be ready and I could not come back because I was moving to another city and my schedule wouldn t allow. She then went on to say if I did not leave the property they would call the police so I took what I was given and left. I feel as though this property has scammed me out of my $100 deposit. I was never explained their policy and no one, not even at the corporate level was willing to work with me. When I requested to speak with certain people within corporate I always had to speak to someone who seemed to not ever really know what to do and was taking orders. I never received any keys or walked thru the unit I was to move in. I believe that I am entitled to receiving my money back and if I do not I would like to make sure that this nightmare never happens to anyone else.
