I've been at Vanderbilt 7 mos and would've been gone by now if the office people claimed it was illegal to change a fresh contract signed just 1 day earlier (I'll get to thas in a minute). In the first 6 mos of living at the Vanderbilt, there has been one rape (by one of the maintenance personnel), at least 5 apartment burglaries (most in broad daylight) and numerous car break ins. Kim (the manager i suppose) explains that sir, "we do have a security guard" (never seen any security on the grounds) and sir "We have an electric gate" (that's always broken and if it is working it can be pushed right open). You see I signed the contract on a Sat for a new 6 mos lease, because it's cheap and I'm a student, and put it in the dropbox. My apt. was burglarized on the following Monday morn. The contract was signed and the management said it was illegal to rip the lease up so I could move elsewhere even though Kim hadnt even received the document yet. So I'm stuck for another 6 mos of hell and my car is prob the next victum. Here's some more good news, because the apartments are so run down with cheap rent, they advertise "Now Accepting Section 8" which Kim says is "by law" the option that all apartments must offer. Here's the last kicker, since I bitched about moving out, management is trying to save their arse by deciding not to mention the burglaries of my apartment and the next door neighbor to all other residents. Well Kim, "by law", management must report all crime activity to residents in the complex and since you havnt done this I'm going to make it my personal mission to spread the word about your ghetto property and make sure no one in their right mind ever moves here. Dont let Kim's or any management response to this convince you to move here.
