My friend just moved out of the vandebilt and he is not giving me real good vibes about this property. He told m,e residents are divided with one section for non U S citizens. This is 2008,for God's sake!
I'm still getting to the bottom of this before I decide this would be my next home.

You may want to check with the manager. I am sure there is no possible way to do this as they don't know what is coming available and in what area of the apartmets. just a suggestion.

I have contacted a local tv station ti help investigate this, besides
the fact that new residents are FORCED to purchase renters' insurance,
and buy $ 10,000 coverage to install Direct tv.

Actually, there may be some truth to some of the allegations. I lived in the Apartment from November, 2005 to June, 2008 and kinda suspected some kind of separation of people according to some yet undefined characterisitics. I don't quite know the basis or whether it is intentional, but one can't help but notice that things are not quite right in the distribution of occupants. As for the management: forget it. Although the latest manager appears a tad better than the one I met when I moved in, there is still palpable incompetence all around. For example the grounds are not swept or cleaned regularly unless a renter notifies the management. Even then it could take a week or more , if one is lucky to have the contracted maintenance (who comes in once a week?)to clean up the wind ways or similar areas. For example, the areas in front of my door was never cleaned for more than 3 months on more than one occasion, despite repeated appeals to the management office. In any case, in some areas the maintenance crew is quite responsive and quick; however, some notifications may get lost in the system. For example, the regulator knob on the oven was never fixed from the time I moved in till i moved out of the apartment despite repeated verbal and written protests. Infact, at a point, the manager told me to go to Walmart and by myself a timer of sorts to use with the oven - final solution to the problem! On a balance though, I liked some features of the apartment such as remote entry and gated security but I hated so many other aspects that I do not have the time to list here. Overall, I do not recommend this apartment to anyone who prefers a clean and quite living place.
