Ive been a resident of Salem Square for several years and my kids and I love the place. Unfortunately, Im being transferred and have to move. My search for a new apartment brought me to this site and I felt it would be an injustice to the manager not to reply considering the negative post below. The apartments are some of the oldest in Friendswood but well maintained. There are no washer and dryer connections but there are laundry room facilities on site. The pool has always opened in the Spring and remains open until the early Fall. There are two playgrounds on the premises for the children to play and the manager is very kid friendly. The rules and regulations clearly state that there is to be no bike riding in the courtyard which is common for most apartment complexes and in place for safety. Calling the manager a bitter old lady for enforcing the rules which she has been hired to do is classless. Friendswood is a very safe community and the schools are excellent. Salem Square is a great place to rent.

You are the ONLY one with a positive review. Are you Helen?

No, I am not Helen. I'm a former resident at Salem Square who was absolutely happy with the apartment I rented and the management team who ran the place in a tip-tip manner. I guess the only people who post to this board are people like you with an axe to grind because of a dispute they had with the management. What were your issues with the management? Did they remind you to pay rent when you "forgot" to pay it? Did they ask you to reign in your kids when they were running around wreaking havoc at the expense of the peace and quiet of your neighbors? If you had these kind of problems, perhaps you should have considered living elsewhere. I understand that the Federal Government has housing projects where they HAVE to take in everyone...including tenants who have nothing more to do than be inconsiderate to their neighbors.

I have not left a review...I could leave a very negative review however. i lived there when i was single. I had no kids, I always paid my rent on time, I was a model tenant. I had issues with the management by the way they ran things around there. I liked to sit out at the pool on a nice day and read, but they would lock it up and take all the chairs and lock them up too. I lived there many years, every year it was up to their descretion of when they would open the pool area, one year we were lucky enough to get it opened as early as the end april which was rare...usually end of May (the temps had been in the 80's and 90's for 2 months) It was closed down when schools started back, like the school children were all that used the pool/or thus the "end of summer" and we still had 2 months of HOT weather with no pool to cool off in. I watched as kids were scolded out in the courtyard for just playing...not being loud or causing disruptions of any kind...just the mere fact that they were visible in the courtyard. I watched as the old watchdogs, tenants who were there all day, just looking for someone to cross a line, would hover around and grumble along with the management about any little thing they could think up. It was like, if they can't be happy then why should they allow anyone else to be happy. Those are the type of things that stood out to me. Just simple acts of considerations of others...and believe me, these things were brought up to the management lady...she just flat out said No! Guess what? I moved on....No amount of savings on a "home" is worth putting up with someone who lacks human kindness.

I have lived there for many years and yes she yelled at the kids when she saw them playing and yes that apt had a share of old biddies that had nothing better to do except peek out their windows and run to Helen to complain about stupid stuff. Getting old does not give you the license to be mean. Everyone is entitled to their opinion so I will give mine. I liked living there for a few years until they started getting so petty with everything plus they never kept up with the repairs. Not only that the washers and dryers there are terrible, some break down so often. I don't have an axe to grind but I do have the right to voice my opinion just like you whether its negative or positive. The owners have not put in much as far as taking care of the problem areas in this place. In fact if an inspector was to inspect this place part of it would be condemn because of termites and the mold within the A/C. You say they had two play areas, you are right but one I would never let my kids play because it was way in the back hidden behind the apts.you could not see what went on back there unless you went back there to watch your kids and then they only had a couple of things for them. It seemed that only the weirdos and drug users used that spot. Also Helen is not kid friendly but she doesn't hate them either. They do have some kids in that place that the parents should be whipped. Kids will be kids but it doesn't mean you have to put up with their bad behavior. Its not easy being a manager and you cannot please everyone. But I cannot say that this place is the best place to live, even though I do feel pretty safe here. Its an old Apt building that needs repairs badly and if the owners do not invest something to fix them up then they will keep having empty apts, but then again maybe thats what they want.

Ms. Helen is just doing what she needs to do and that is to get rid of the riff raff..If you dont like it there just move on cause you will get exactly what you deserve if you are a disruptive tenant, and just like you talk about the biddies theyve been around alot longer than you and know when they have to be a look-out..Go Biddies and report all those that dont belong there and then someday maybe we will have only those neighbors we can feel safe around. Ms Helen just keep evicting and you do the best you can you rock Ms. helen!!!
