I've lived here for about 11 months and I, unfortunately, have to move to Ft. Worth for work-related reasons. I've had such a great time living here. The front office staff (Julie and Brooke) have always been very nice and helpful. All maintenance stuff is taken care of quickly, even though I've had very few issues. The structure is solid, great looking, and the inside hallways, lobby, and elevator are immaculate at all times. I've literally NEVER heard my neighbors making noise. Somehow my energy bills are VERY low since the building's hallways are inside and temp. controlled.
A big plus is the restaurants on the first floor. The best place, by far, is Best Thai on the corner. The owner is very nice, the food is outstanding, and the price is just right. Poppy's has a good happy hour from 4-7pm and has Shiner on tap. They are building 2 more buildings close by with a mexican restaurant and a MOVIE TAVERN! On the corner of main & DNT they are building some more shops and a Rudy's BBQ! I so don't want to move :(
Grande Communications is the internet/TV provider here. They have a great channel selection, HD, DVR, responsive customer service etc. The internet speed I have is 6Mbps down, 512Kbps upstream, but you can get up to 8Mbps down and 768Kbps upstream. I pay about $90/month for cable w/ HD and DVR, internet, and a phone line. Be advised Grande is the ONLY service you can get, but at least they are outstanding. I was mad at first when I learned this, but I would have chosen these guys over AT&T (the other choice) anyday.
Traffic in the area is the only real complaint I have (not the fault of the staff). The DNT will be finished in our area later this year (2007) and they are widening most major streets in the area. There is a train near by that is pretty loud but only comes by once every 4 - 5 hours. I've gotten so used to it, it doesn't phase me at all. The new buildings should block much of that noise once they are complete.
I've liked all the festivals thrown here. One time I woke up, went downstairs to get my paper, looked up, and there were dozens of huge cattle being herded down the main road... for a festival. That was a shock, but funny. FC Dallas games are right across the street and always have great tailgating parties. We sometimes get free tickets as residents since some of the MLS front-office people and even some FC Dallas players are also residents.
I'm moving out at the end of May from an A5 floorplan, so if you are on the waiting list, give them a call and see if you can jump in! I imagine my unit will be ready around June 5-7 after cleaning, touchups, etc.

It is soooo obvious that you are an employee! I was buying your story at first but you went way to far in detail!!!!

I am not an employee. Wish I had a way to confirm that but I don't want to give out my apt # and have crazy people who troll apartment review sites just to pick out fake reviews showing up at my door. Get a hobby. If you are a resident, you can find me almost every afternoon in the gym. I'm a tall white guy with a faux-hawk and I have my Army dogtags on. Can't miss me. For every one else who is SANE and just looking for a place to live, I stand by my review as a RESIDENT since last May. |
