Sometimes when I see these reviews and ramblings, you have to see through most of them because it could have been someone that was a bad renter and they were evicted and thus they are trying to get even they feel by making a bad review.
I m telling you that I am not that kind of person, so I feel I can give a very honest review.
We moved to the Silverado Apartments back in April of 06.
Originally we signed a 6 month lease, but changed it to 1 year since we didn't think we'd want to leave after 6 months, let's be honest here moving sucks.
After 2 months of being at the apartment, and you are going to find problems anywhere you go with apartments, we wanted out.
There aren't many positives with the place and I really tried hard to sugar coat some of the problems, but you just can t.
Don't let the gates fool you, they are always open and always broke.
This is hardly a gated community.
I d say the gates were open and not working at least 90% of the time we lived there.
I can tell you that there was about 10 days, out of the 6 month period that we were there, that all the gates were working properly and closed.
It s not a gated community
One positive is if you have young kids that are school age, the Elementary school is just outside the west gate.
It is a VERY nice school and the teachers are great.
As with any apartment community, there are your typical white trash individuals that seem to think that the pool area is for sex and beer parties.
No different at Silverado.
The only problem is, the Silverado pool is already disgusting as it is.
There are the few that feel the speed limit is 50 mph around the community, and a few that have to rev the engines to compensate for the lack of their manhood.
Yeah, you know who you are Mr.
Yellow (tiny ----) Ferrari.
You can tell that Silverado tries to take care of the landscape, but there are just some residents that are just irresponsible.
But again you find them at an apartment, which just comes with the territory.
The basketball court is okay, the Fitness gym is a joke.
I worked out there one week and spent the entire next week throwing up.
The gym is just not sanitized at all.
Bring a bottle of 409 or Lysol when you go, expect to use half a bottle each gym use.
It's seriously bad.
The gym equipment is either broken or seriously out dated.
And you do NOT have access to the game room or the computer room after office hours.
These are LOCKED down, the sign says they close at 11:00pm which is just not true.
They close at 6:00pm when the office closes.
Besides, both those rooms aren't that great either with broken furniture and the pool table has definitely seen better days.
The management...
it's changed twice since we first moved in.
The group that was there at the beginning was so much better than the group that they have now.
I over heard one of the office employees say to another renter, "We only need to get you to rent and make your payment, beyond that you mean nothing to us." And you do get the feeling that they really don t care after they get you to rent there.
Also one other time I went to talk to management 2 hours before they closed.
But the management was walking out of the office saying they were closed for the day.
I had pointed to their sign that had said they were opened for 2 more hours and they said, "That sign is old.
The sign they said was old had just been put there a week before.
I ended up finding a job that required me to need to break my lease early and move.
The management was not very helpful in anyway.
And if they did seem helpful, it ended up screwing me which I'll explain.
When we moved out and we paid the penalty of breaking the lease, we were told that the apartment was still ours for another month and we could keep our keys in case we couldn't move everything, just as long as we were moved out at the end of the month.
Well, we left a $1000 Entertainment Center in the apartment and some filing folders that had bills, personal information and such that we couldn't fit in the truck.
I came back 2 weeks later to pick this stuff up and it was GONE! They threw most of it away, and the staff kept the rest.
Their communication is very poor and they have a so what attitude once you are renting.
Stonebrook pkwy, which runs in front of the apartment complex, is now like a major highway.
It's very loud and so very busy.
If you have young kids, it's not very safe to be around.
Overall...
the apartments are decent, not luxury by any means, but decent.
You are close, but not too close, to Pizza Hut Park, the Stonebrier Center and Mall.
I never had any problems finding parking there.
Never saw drugs being dealt or prostitution, but again...
these are apartments and you are bound to find 1 or 2 of these kinds of people.
Would I rent from there again...' No.
Simply because management wasn t helpful, and you can find a much better apartment in the Frisco area by paying $100 or $200 more and it would be worth it.
I do feel there are your more white trash residents at Stonebrook that you would find at other places.
The pitch they gave me was that they are trying to weed those out, but it seemed that it got worse as I stayed.
There is no playground for the kids anywhere close to the apartments.
You have to drive a couple of miles to find the nearest park.
Overall I ve stayed at 4 different apartments in my life and this ranks near the bottom of my list.
So take my review for what it s worth I m not bitter, just telling the truth.

I'd have to agree with most of what you said aside from never having seen drugs. I will give you that i lived in the worst building of them all, but there was drug trafficing on several occations, mostly from the apartment across from us. They moved out about two months ago, it took the apartment 3 weeks to remove their smelly trash from the patio, and the low battery alarm on the smoke detector is still beeping. When the lived here they had several people in and out, non of them the same and our entire breeze way reeked of pot.

I made a posting on t 1/10/07 and I lived there long enough to know the previous management, which was the difference between day and night from the new management. The new company doesn't care about the community, or it's members. I have so many more unflattering stories and they are all true. I am bitter about my experience with them, however they were my favorite place to live, because it "felt like home" on the interior. For those who didn't see drugs, I have two instances I can refer to. A fireman here told me what the call was for after telling him about the fire alarm and trucks coming in one evening. It seems that someone had a stash under their bed and it caught fire. That was in the building next to me. The apartment above me had younger, college, renters and I saw them myself, and know that the cops had visited them. The same comment about the "signage" was made to me and I when I was struggling the most with management the manager was constantly in court or out of town. She was little help even when in town. I was told that the management company would contact me and over a 6 month period of tracked contact, they NEVER called back. Not even when I contacted the City. The gates, well, I guess that's a problem of it's own. They seemed not to work the MAJORITY of the time I lived there and lived near the exit, which wasn't so good. I'll be checking back to see other's concerns. I'm looking for a place again and wish it was a place I could move to.
