Moving Soon!
From: -Anonymous-Date posted: 8/15/2004
Years at this apartment: 2002 - 2004
I currently live in a one bedroom, with an 8 yr old child. My lease will be up in less than 2 months. I had just recieved a notice on my door that my lease would be up and if I renewed for 12 months, I could have one month free. I went to the office and spoke with management about a tranfer to a bigget apartment. I was told, "It will be no problem, you have lived here almost 3 years." I was then given choices of 2 bedrooms, went and looked, picked the apartment I wanted and was put on the list to move in to the 2 bedroom. One day before my move, I go in to the office to see about moving some boxes if apartment was ready. I was then told that I would need to pay an additional deposit as well as a $300 tranfer fee, and they could not honor the month free since I was transfering instead of staying in my current apartment. Again, this had been discussed several times, prior to this date, and the only things ever said to me about my transfer was "It will be no problem." After I found out I need to come up with more money, I was furious and told them I would explore my options or just renew for another 6 months in my current apartment. Later that afternoon, the complex manager phoned me to tell me they would let me out of my lease if I wanted to go live somewhere else. Why would they let me out of my lease' She told me they had already leased my apartment, the one I had not even transfered out of. The manager was extemely unproffesional and not willing to work with me to resolve the problem, instead she was short and when the conversation was over, she hung up without even saying good-bye. How tacky is that'
Before the big change in management several months back, there has been a huge turn over in staff, from management to leasing agents.
I find what they did to me very unprofressional and unorganized. My signature was nowhere saying I was transfering from one building to the other, nor had I given them any type of notice. If they had intended to ask me for more money for the transfer, you would have thought they would have waited to lease my apartment until they had my new lease signed and all the funds. Instead they went on a verbal agreement I had made with management, who in the end, misled me and miscommunicated.
If you're thinking of moving here, don't do it. Both of the pools have been shut down for some time now, an amenity we pay for and the maintance staff is unresponsive to any requests you may have. You have to call several times before anything is done!
I wouldn't want anyone else to have to go through what I have. Read other comments, you shall see...............
