Although Bayou Shores is an older complex, I have been very pleased living there. After spending a year at Island Bay Apartments, where the management is terrible, I was so pleased to move to a well-managed apartment.

Ric, the apartment manager, is such a nice man. If you report a problem, he gets on it right away. Once we had a roof leak and his staff completely re-did our roof on the next weekend so that we could escape the noise overhead. Our refrigerator went out one day, and he had a new one delivered to our apartment the next day.

The landscaping is very lovely with several eucalyptus trees and manicured flower beds. There is a dock on the property where you can watch the beautiful sunset, or try your luck at fishing.

The upstairs apartments have hardwood flooring, which I love. The downstairs apartments have carpet, I believe. The only downside to this arrangement is that we have to be careful not to stomp around the apartment, as it will disturb the downstairs neighbor.

This apartment is quiet. After living at Island Bay, where our upstairs neighbors were college kids who partied all night, and our downstairs neighbors were always yelling at each other, this was a welcome change. One average, the tenants at Bayou Shores are older.

Since the buildings are old, the insulation is not very efficient. Our electricity bills are very high in the summer, but the rent is so inexpensive that it averages out.

Another plus is the assigned covered parking. I can't tell you how many times I've been thankful for this feature. Especially during tropical storms.

These apartments are off the beaten path. Call for directions first. I hope this review helped you.

I don't understand why students have to party all night. I am a student and I never acted like these people do. At 16 years of age I already was employed designing homes. I am trying to finish a second degree but it is hard when students are everywhere on this island and it is hard to find one apartment that is strict on noise. The University Apts. claim they enforce noise but they do not! It is noisy all the time with KIDS not adults running up and down the stairs all hours of the night screaming. I think these KIDS need to join the armed forces where they would gain some ADULT skills. I never acted the way these kids do. I had to take care of my brother and house chores since I was 8 years old. Who raises these kids today?

I agree with the positive rating wholeheartedly. So many of Galveston's "newer" apartments are rental traps with no management OR the management changes there every 6 months. Bayou Shores is awesome! I rented there for 2 1/2 years and I am sorry I left. We had a great view and Ric is the best! The place is well mantained and is so quiet that you can sleep in every morning with no distractions. My wife and I will always be indebted to Ric...he was so helpful and we consider him as a dear friend...not just the manager. No noisy kids, no disturbances no hassles and lots of nice folks. Don't hesitate to rent there but mind your manners because they don't put up with any monkey business! Thank Goodness! Jack & Kelley

I agree that these are the nicest apartments I have ever been in. It is shady, quiet, well-maintained...idyllic almost. Ric is awesome, and the staff are wonderful. Let's not tell everybody what a great place this is. It might change.

These apartments are history. The surge from Ike tore them to pieces. There are public complaints from the neighboring houses regarding the rat infestations. I am sorry for the residents who loved their homes and sorry for Bayou Shores' owner. This is just an FYI for anyone now searching for a place to live.
