Pay more and go somewhere else! From: gitty2006 Date posted: 1/19/2006 Years at this apartment: 2005 - 2006   I have lived at Island Bay for 1 yr and during that time, I've had many... many issues. First, someone was shot and killed here a few months ago. Second, the maintenance NEVER follows up on anything - and you see them everywhere, but they never do any work. You have to call and call and write and call... good luck with that. The office crew is very friendly, but that's about the only nice thing. The buildings are falling apart - the floors are uneven (I live in a 400sq ft efficiency and from one side of my wall to the next is 4" difference). The people that live here are trashy and loud. I've had awful neighbors that party all night and leave their nasty trash / beer bottles / cigarette packs all over the place. Sometimes the trash doesn't get picked up and it gets full and nasty and full of flies and bugs! The walls are deteriorating, paint job looks like it was done by a 1st grader - they have no pride in their complex. Its simply too large to keep up with. The prices are fairly low - but the saying goes "you get what you pay for". The gate is always open, however the only gate you really want to use is the back gate b/c of convenience and there were MANY times that it was broke and you wouldn't know that until you pulled up and tried your card... and then you would have to back out, turn around and go around the block to use the front gate. It took them 2 months just to get me a card to get in the gates in the first place, and then another month for the card to work. I can't wait for my lease to expire so I can get OUT OF HERE! Yuk - go somewhere else. This place used to be SECTION 8 - what do you expect'
