I will agree with previous posts that say the side of Island Bay with the canals is alot nicer than the back side off of Heards Lane. I also agree that when they let in all the Katrina Refugees the clientele/residents went downhill. There used to be alot better class of people living there, alot of UTMB & A&M students, now theres a bunch of low lifes hanging around the place.I have not had any maintenance problems or problems with the office people. I think if you have problems with rodents & roaches you should take a look at your own cleanliness habits, because I haven't had a problem with either & I keep my apartment very clean.Overall, I like it at Island Bay-you may guess I live on the canal side-a lot of people have pets,I have a dog, & he has been a topic of conversation among my neighbors who also have dogs- a good way to get to know who your neighbors are. I also agree with the post that they need to have an "adults only" pool, where you can go relax poolside & read a book without having to listen to a bunch of screaming kids who basically take over the whole pool. With 3 pools, that shouldn't be a problem, to have one for just adults. I do have a complaint- there aren't any screens on the windows & the complex doesn't supply them, which I beleive that for the price of rent they should have screens on the windows. They DO raise your rent every year, which is another bone of contention, especially when you pay your rent on time every month & never have any problems with the office.I think they should have more incentive for the people who have lived there a long time & want to continue doing so. And they need to quit renting to low lifes!! (Clean the place up a bit, if you know what I'm saying.)
