FINALLY our threshold gets sealant applied to it, right after the rain stopped. September 9th 2006...terrential downpours, thunder, lightning.....and of course flooding. We were out walking around the strand downtown this Saturday afternoon but decided to come home because it started to rain. We arrive at our door with at least 2 inches of water at our feet, almost submerging the threshold. I said to my girlfriend..."I bet the kitchen is flooded again". Sure enough, I turn the key, open the door, and there it was...FLOODED KITCHEN!
Now we have a soaked carpet where the kitchen tile meets the dining room. From the tile I would say it is soaked over three feet into the dining room. We can either jump over it or just step in it when we need to go to the kitchen. This is very disgusting and dangerous to have this problem, it will probably dry up before they ever try to fix it. Maintenance here is very, very slow. But the maintenance guys are friendly, no problem with them, they just take their orders from a higher power, it's not their fault there are only two or three of them, and over 450 units here to maintain.
How miserable that we have to pay $850/month for this "resort" apartment. If you ask me it's anything but a "resort" here. The office staff puts on this fake friendly front and is uncaring and unhelpful, except for when you hand them that rent check! And they can't handle the truth when you tell them to their face that this used to be a housing project, and once you go through the gate....it still is!
Please, those of you reading this, do not live here. If you have ever heard the old saying "It runs like a well-oiled machine"....this machine broke down along time ago, and there doesn't appear to be any thought of revival. To HELL with Island Bay!
