Look: I have lived at Island Bay for 7 years now. I have seen the good and the bad. For the past 2 years, Maintenance has not been a problem. Much of the property damage I have seen has been caused by Neanderthal-like tenants and guests with inconsiderate behaviors typified by sealing things (breaking light fixtures to steal the bulbs from the outside lights and crow barring televisions from the workout and laundry room walls). You can't blame the management for the ACCEPTABLE Galveston White-Trash behavior! I believe it to be a huge challenge to sheppard people in such a large complex when a few rotten apples have absolutely no respect for the place they live in. In general, my immediate neighbors are really nice people and they too have lived in Island Bay for years; we look out for each other and watch each other s property. You occasionally hear thumpitty thump thump from a passing car in the middle of the night or a drunken red-necked burnout with a pickup truck -- but I challenge you to find a place in Galveston where these kinds of things don t happen. I am sure that if you rent an apartment in the $1700/month range, you will be treated like a rich, little, spoiled-brat queen if you want to be treated that way. I am not such an attention hore, nor do I expect to pay attention hore rental fees!

Your "Neanderthal-like tenants and guests" were approved by the management. The area behind the second canal is a ghetto and the property in front of the second canal is not much better. Whenever the racial mixture in an rental property predominates to one culture, be it White, Latino, Black, Occidental, or whatever - there is a problem unfolding. Enjoy your "logic"! Sooner or later, you'll wake up.

Even Neanderthals can look like good tenants on paper; they do a background check and a credit check before they rent to new tenants. By-the-way, GUESTS are NOT approved by the management. The behavior of guests is the responsibility of the tenant who invited them on the property (otherwise they are trespassing). I am suspicious of your claim of "a problem unfolding". WHERE??? WHAT??? I guess I must be ghetto for living "behind the second canal", however, I am a research scientist with a PhD! Most of the tenants I know are hard working, working class people who pretty much keep to themselves. Pity you never bothered to see people for whom and what they really are.

Earning a PhD does connotate a proximate relationship with intelligence ??? but not necessarily an acquaintance with common sense. I, also, am a scientist with an advanced degree but I choose not to use this accomplishment as a rejoinder or qualifier. ???Neanderthals???? ???White trash???? ???Rednecks???? Do I detect a degree of bias in a proclaimed ???scientist???? Us poor white folk can???t even use the ???n-word???! If this is how you define your neighbors, you do live in a ghetto. ???None so blind as those who will not see???. PS: the term ???research scientist??? is a redundancy.
