First of all, the front gate really sucks. Don't assume it is a security feature, because you can stick any card you want into the card reader and the gate will open (a movie card, credit card, college ID, ect...). If you bring this subject up with the office, they will use the term "access gate", because they think it will get you a cheaper rate on your renters insurance. That was not even a question on my renters insurance policy. The gate is just 2 painted boards that go up and down, they get rammed and knocked down every other day. I lived here for about a year. It was good for the most part. I lived in the very back, so parking was easy to find most of the time, but I have so many door dings in my brand new truck because the parking spaces are SO close together! I hope you have a junker to park here! Some places in the complex are impossible to find a place to park.
Dog crap is another BIG problem. Don't walk in the grass or let your kids play in it, you will step in dog patties for sure! For about a month I had problems with yellow jackets (wasps) in my apartment. It took a long while to get that resolved. I even had to bring a baggie of 10 or 15 of them to the front office so they would believe me, I couldn't sleep in that place for a month! It's not nice to relax at home and have to kill 3 or 4 angry wasps a night, with some landing on you or getting in your food. Roaches are not much of a problem, but they do have sugar ants, so make sure your stuff is sealed! The rent is decent, but there is no workout room and the laundry rooms are pretty crapy. The biggest 1 bedroom is great, plenty of room. It is pretty safe and quiet out there, it's not a real busy part of the island. Apartments are pretty old and built cheep, don't expect anything real nice, there are no plans to upgrade either. The office staff is ok, but not real helpful. The head maintenance guy is a old hippie dude. I've seen this guy wondering the streets late at night, I really wonder where they found this guy. I'm not sure if the maintenance staff even speaks english. I would not trust any of them in my place alone.
