Horrible service and now run by dishonest people who only cares about commission

This place used to be nice, but not anymore. What happened is after the hurricane they changed the management team, all people working in the leasing office now are new and I had no idea where they are from. They have no integrity and they don t care about the current residents, what they care about is only earning commission by bringing more new tenants.

My friend tried to find a one-bed here, since there are so many desperate people looking for a place to stay after the storm, she put down $150 deposit and $40 application fee to lock in the apt. But people in the leasing office kept preventing her from seeing the actual place, they either said it s not ready or they did not have the key at that moment, it came to the last day that she was about to sign the lease, she insisted taking a look at the unit first and she found out that there is a big hole on the roof and the window is broken! She was told that it might take 6 months to get it fixed and she will still be charged full rent. Overwhelmed by all the things she need to deal with after Ike, she just gave up and walked away. So far I don t know if she has got her deposit back and she said she is too tired to argue about $40 application fee.

It takes very long time to get something fix. What happen is , whenever there are people coming to apply for apartment, people in the leasing office just lock the door so they don t need to deal with the current tenants. One of my neighbor s toilet got backed up and flooded, she had to run to the leasing office 3 times to get someone to fix it, apparently, people in the leasing office don t give a damn to the current tenant that can t not bring in any commission money for them.

My place is considered livable but there is molds on the insulation ( the interior part is removed due to the water damage), I went to the leasing office 3 times just to get them put some drop-off on the wall. I am still charged full rent even I live in the room without intact wall. I will complain to the management company and if they don t change the way they do business, I will report them to BBB.

I had good experience before the storm, but what my friend and I experienced these days is very frustrated and I feel angry about people taking advantage of others during such a difficult time. Base on the way they treat current tenants, you want to look for somewhere else, because this apartment complex was built in the 80s , a lot of appliances are old, I pretty much need to get something fix every month, but once you sign your lease, they just want you to disappear.BTW: pet deposit is extremely expensive, $400 for one pet; I have put my name in other apartment's waiting list ( now it's very hard to find a place in Galveston, I guess that's why the leasing office staff are treating people like that) , if something comes out, I will move out.
