I paid $720. a month to live here beginning 2002. By 2003 I was paying $725. a month. $710 is way off, or it had BETTER BE. My biggest complaint at The Pointe is the laundry. No W/D conn., and the little Laundromat, even renovated with all-new machines, has dryers that leave your clothes wet. Some residents (a mystery) have small stackable W/D units IN their apartments, I don't see how as there is no place to vent a clothes dryer, but these units cause water problems for the rest of us. When we first moved here, tribes of hoodlums ravaged the place, terrorizing other kids, and management took months to get rid of them despite clear violations of their lease and mine. Plenty of "interlopers" in our pools, people who don't live here coming to swim, but not as many as there used to be. Office staff has always been exceedingly helpful to me, and maintenance has been superb. I've never had the "bad experiences" listed in other reviews. The grounds are kept meticulously. My neighbors are quiet. My unit is great, roomy enough and quite cheery. My dishwasher works. Never run out of hot water. I like our security. But from what I read here, other areas of the complex may not be so nice. This complex is very well located! Skip out back gate to Seawall. But speaking of the back gate, it is constantly invaded by God knows what, always broken by "people" wanting in, who-knows-why. This is Galveston. Parking, too, has been a nightmare many times, an inexcusable situation when you come home from work at midnight and literally can't park and go to bed because the spaces are filled by cars of people who do not live here. Recently, this has been fixed! It's wonderful. Still a problem with non-residents in the way, taking up two parking spaces, though. A regular nuisance. There's also a big hazard with residents ENTERING by the EXIT gate and EXITING by the ENTRANCE gate. I've had a dozen near collisions with these inconsiderate lazy neighbors who can't drive a few more feet to the correct gate. Also, I see police cars here a lot. I never hear the reason why. I know of no mold in my walls. No roaches. No rats. There is mildew around the windows.
