I went to tour these apts twice...I loved it so much when I went to see them on my own that I just had to go back and have them show my mother the apartments since they were so nice. I saw the one bedrooms, there are three versions. The smallest two are not worth it unless you are a student or something and don't own much stuff, otherwise you may want the largest one bedroom. The one bedrooms I looked at for my mom don't have washer/ dryer connections, but they do have a laundry facility on-site that's in very good condition with a tv & remote, and very very clean. It also has a surveillance camera in there 24 hours a day...and as a convenience, if you subscribe to The Dish Network through them (you cannot get Time Warner there), you can turn to a certain channel on your tv in your apartment and check out the laundry room. Very cool if you want to make sure there's a washer available for when you drag all your clothes down there, and also a great idea so you don't have to hang out there for 2 hours to make sure no one takes your laundry. It makes a great deterrent for no one to take your clothes! I also looked at the 2 bedrooms for myself, and they are nice and roomy. If you are looking for a great roommate floorplan, the small 2/2 may be the way to go, since the bedrooms are far apart from each other. All the 2 bedrooms have washer/ dryer connections and if you want to rent a washer and dryer they just add $30 to your rent. If you have a family you may want the big 2/2 though, the small 2/2 just is a little too small if you have a child in my opinion. The cable thing does kind of suck though since you can't get Time Warner...if you want cable you have to subscribe through the apartment with Dish TV, and to have the internet you will need to get a land line with At&t, and only the living room & master bedroom are cable ready, so you will not be able to get cable in the 2nd bedroom. On the upside though, to subscribe to get the dish, your monthly cable bill will only be $48 per month which includes all your regular cable channels plus 7 channels of HBO, which is way cheaper that what I currently pay with Time Warner. The big 2/2 (which is what I am getting, and my mom like this floorplan so much, she is also going to get the same floorplan) is very spacious at 1200 square feet, and is designed well for me. It has extra space where I want it, and less space where I don't really care about the footage. The master bedroom is large; we have a king size bed and very large bulky bedroom furniture, and it will all fit in there with extra room leftover. The master bathroom is large with lots of extra space built in for your towels, toiletries, etc. The 2nd bedroom is very spacious for our daughter and will also very comfortably fit her full size bed, dresser, desk, couch, tv stand, and toy chests. The 2nd bathroom is also roomy with lots of extra space and built in shelving. There's also 2 more storage closets in the hallway, one for linens and one for coats, both large. The halway itself is roomy and wide, so you even have functional hallway space that's roomy ebough to put a chest of drawers or a bookshelves in there, so your hallway space doesn't even have to be wasted. The living room and dining room are large, and if you live on the 2nd or 3rd floor you have an ocean view with a wrap around porch. The kitchen is a little on the small side space-wise, but they made up for it by again having lots of cabinets and storage in there. It's a square kitchen, not one of those long skinny ones. There's also a small storage closet on the outside of the unit that would be big enough to maybe store your xmas tree and a couple of other things. If you live on the bottom floor the porches are fenced so it's really private. The gym had 3 cardio machines, free weights, an exercise ball, and two big tv's and it's open 24 hours, you just need to know the code to get in. The pool & jacuzzi are nice and were super clean. The lake area where you can fish, play volleyball, and BBQ is pretty. Oh an one more thing, my husband is a clothes horse, as well as my daughter, and I am a shoe-a-holic....the closet space in the bedrooms are HUGE!!! I see in previous reviews that people have said that the walls are thin, and I have to say that I have lived in a bunch of the different big-name apartments on this Island, and all of them had thin walls, so I wouldn't be surprised if this one did too since I pretty much expect it now. This place is pretty on the outside, appealing to the eye on the inside as well, has nice extras, both ladies I have met with in the office were very courteous and seemed to really like where they worked, the grounds were well maintained, and they are one of the few apartments on this island who will take both of my large dogs, there's no weight restrictions, only breed restrictions. I'm particularly inpressed with the large 2/2 since it seems it was designed very well and has lots and lots of extra space and storage that all of the other apartments we have lived in have lacked. The big 2/2 are about 1200 sq feet and we were told that it is $1049 per month. Iy's more than what we pay at our apartment now, but for the space, view, amenities and extras, I think it will be money well spent and I really feel that I will be in a better neighborhood. The apts I currently live in are Seaside Village, and although they are architectually interesting and have decent space at 1050 sq feet, the floorplan is designed so oddly that it's very hard to place furnture in a way that makes sense and it feels like we have less space than we actually have, as well as electrical problems & leaking problems. All in all I feel like Newport @ West Beach looks like it is a great place to rent and will be money well spent for us when we move there.
