Yo!

Nice but going downhill...

I have lived here for 2 yrs, very nice at first. But immediate neighbors are horrible. Too many kids live in the unit, loud parties, their boxer is often left on the porch all day in the sun. Their 7 & 9 yr olds run around the property unsupervised making a lot of commotion. They leave their trash on the porch for usually 3 dys at a time. One time for my daughter's bday party, their week old smelly trash was being picked over by at least 10 birds in over 100 degree heat(and we have to share this porch) ewww. The kids jump around all the time, and it shakes my entire apartment. One time a glass of water fell off my table because my apt was shaking so badly. The kids look through my windows while I am downstairs. The other day their 7 yr old son, (who was of course unsupervised, their parents were in the unit and left the 9 yr old sister to watch over him) crawled on top of my 5 yr old daughter's back put her in a choke hold and pushed her head underwater while still choking her. Multiple residents have complained about these particular residents numerous times but they are still here, and personally they have brought this particular area of the complex down. Their dog pees and craps where ever it wants to on the property and the parents or kids who walk it do not pick up after it. I have seen this same resident dump cat poo off of their bedroom balcony and let it fall into the old lady's bushes in front of her patio...then proceed to leave the garbage out on their patio with the remaining cat litter in it, which is 3 feet from my door. It's just foul. Oh and the neighbors in building 1 have let their dog pee and crap on the lawn right in front of their apt (by the parking lot) that the grass is all dead. Careful where you walk around here. High praise is in order for the maintenance crew, they are fast. Hopefully maintenance will remain excellent now that we are under a new manager, because Monica, the previous manager, really took a lot of pride in this buiding. I do need to say that I have had some leaks, and they have been just "patched up", but that is through no fault of the maintenance crew themselves. These buildings are old, and I am sure they can only do a certain amount of work that is dictated by management, so this is not to blame the maintenance staff. They are timely with quarterly exterminations. We had a few unfortuneate car break-ins over the Thanksgiving Holidays, but Monica handled it very well. I have to say that my electricity bills living here are astronomical. My electricity bills last summer were at least $400-$600 monthly during peak summer months...I do not know if it is because that the townhomes in particular are drenched with sunlight from the skylight in our units, or if it is an outdated air conditioning system, but get ready for hefty electric bills. During the summer I would keep my a/c at 78 degrees during the day, and 72 degrees at night, and my electric bill for the month of July 2005 was a whopping $680,and that's with having the air conditioning filter changed monthly as I requested from maintenance. My last apartment was the same square footage as this and the highest electric bill I ever had was $275 in the summer. Overall, the look of the place is very pretty to look at on the outside, and architectually interesting on the inside, although trying to place furniture on the lower level of the townhouses is a challenge since the rooms are shaped very awkwardly. If you get the town house, beware that the 2nd bdrm is on the small side, and is also shaped awkwardly so it can be difficult to place furniture in a logical way. You may want to consider the 2 bdrm apartment flats on the bottom floor instead, I hear that the electric bills are a lot lower on that floor too. Very pretty here, but there are patch jobs, maintenance is good, some neighbors in particular are really bad, and making this apt a real hellhole for me, and unfortuneatly I am ready to buy a house now because due to the neighbor experience, I will never ever rent again in this lifetime, it is that bad. I really question if this apt has it's best intersts at heart by keeping these filthy noisy people here for these couple of years. Oh and did I mention that these neighbors have seen rats crawling on their part of the building at night. They said they have seen them on more than one occassion. Duhhh, they leave their poor dog locked out on the porch, and you just know they leave dog food on the porch because you can hear the dog knock into the dog bowl sometimes, I wonder why there are rats wanting to crawl up there. My mother lives in a different building of this complex in building 5 and has no complaints...if that's so, then try a 2 bedroom or 1 bedroom FLAT (for your electricty bill's sake) in building 5 or 6...away from the occassional commotion by the leasing office and pool.
