Great for 1B/1B and large dogs

I've lived here for almost a year and will gladly continue to live here until I finish school. The deciding factor when picking this apartment was the staff and I have yet to be disappointed. The maintenance men fix things the day I call or the next day. I haven't had any problems with things being fixed incorrectly like other people have mentioned, but I make sure I am there so I can see what they are doing. I have had problems with a leak but it was quickly fixed. I'd also like to add that living in Galveston in these old apartments, leaks are to be expected. The other plus to living here is the pet policy. I was limited to choosing apartments because of my large dog. I now have 2 dogs over 75lbs and have only paid $200 each for the pet deposit (I have friends that have paid three to four times that at other apartments). The comments about the cats are true but the people that were feeding them regularly have moved out so the cats are no longer concentrated in one area of the complex. If you don't like cats or dogs I wouldn't recommend this place. Stackable washer and dryer units can be rented from the apartment or you can buy your own. In the one bedroom, if you have a stackable, you don t have a pantry. I don t know about the two bedrooms or the historic apartments. Without a washer/dryer, my utilities run from $20 to $60 a month. The other issue mentioned by everyone else is parking. I have never had a problem finding a space near my apartment but I wouldn't live here if I had a roommate because of the one space per apartment rule. There were also comments about the gates not working and vandalization. While this has occurred, the majority of the time the gates are closed. The apartment addresses the issue as quickly as they can. I have called them when the gates have been broken and they are able to tell me when they will be fixed (they are usually waiting on parts). As for the safety...it's Galveston. The Cedar Lawn neighborhood is right across the street and is the only gated community in Galveston. It's a nice place to walk with a good feeling of safety. The complex is pretty centrally located in Galveston, only taking about 10 minutes to get to grocery stores, schools, and back to 45. If you have pets, will be living in a one bedroom, and don't have high expectations for the outside appearance of the building, I'd highly recommend this apartment complex.

This was my review pre Hurricane IKE. Now I would not recommend this place to anyone mainly because of the lack of communication between corporate, the office staff, and the residente. They no longer answer/return phone calls so can only be reached in person. I was grateful for them going into my apt and gutting it before I got there, it saved most of my belongings, but it would have also been nice to recieve a phone call oking the situation or at least notifying us of what was going on. Rent from AIMCO/The Park at your own risk...also be aware that the gates have not been closed since the storm and the amount of people coming in and out of the complex for construction will make it even more unsafe than it was before

I do realize that and was grateful for the work the staff did do. My main problem as I stated about was that after I moved my belongings out and tried to contact anyone at the Park I was never able to get through. I was even more disappointed with the fact that I left several messages which were never returned. I waited patiently for two weeks to allow them to get to my message at their leisure. I understand the staff was just as stressed as I was during the whole hurricane recovery period but it was still their job, when they had a working phone line, to return messages and answer questions. I just wanted to include a review so that anyone looking for an apartment could have more information. I am glad that you didn't have the same problems that I did and I hope that things are beginning to return to the way they were before the storm.

You do realize after the hurricane that none of us had access to power let alone phones or internet, I spoke with the staff almost daily after the storm and they often had to go to other communities off the island to do the paperwork that let you out of your lease. They even gave out personal numbers to help stay in touch with us. Some of the people on here are clearly morons and I would love for them to move elsewhere after a hurricane and see the difference in the staff. JUST SO YOU KNOW- the property had like 5 feet of water take out most of the units. There are many of us who have been here before the storm and will stay for as long as possible. The Park is incredible and although it greatly suffered from Ike- It stands strong.
