I lived at The Parks for over two years. I really enjoyed living here, until Hurricane IKE that is. We left the island with our essentials. We had friends that stayed on the island during the storm that went and checked on our apartment, since the staff would or corporate would not return any phone calls for two weeks. Our friend went in our place and everything was in order no damage at all. To my surprise when we were able to return the entire closet and bedroom was packed downstairs, the kitchen was jammed packed. Everything was shoved into the living room. I could see four apartments away and I could walk through the inside of the apartments if I wanted to this is all due to the Disaster Team tearing all the sheetrock out. The lack of knowledge from the bottom person all the way to the Top of the ladder was inexcusable. And only to tell us that we had three days to get out of the apartment before we were charged for another month. I would never rent from an AIMCO Complex as long as I live.

IT WAS A DISASTER DUDE! No one knew what was going on except for higher ups, I lived in a duplex at the time and my landlord wasnt half as nice as AIMCO was to you. there were TONS of apartment complexs on the island that had it worse than you! At least your landlord didnt leave your unit unlocked so that looters could pick over what you had left. Get over it and file an insurance claim, and if you didnt have insurance you are an idiot for living on an island without it.

Wow what a rude and disrespectful person you are. Everyone had their own Drama????????????????????????s and pain. I lived there too at The Park when this happened and my experience was the same. I loved the place before all that happened. But it just goes to show that it is all about money AIMCO is one of the biggest apartment holding companies in America so they say, yet they couldn't afford to hire people that would treat our things with respect, or they couldn't afford to give us our rent back that we had paid, or they couldn't out of courtesy for our fear answer the phone. There were people on property (we had friends stop by and check on things) and when we asked what happened we were told sorry the people we hired made a mistake sorry. We fired them but oh well get out in 3 days. No during a disaster you want to feel assured that where you live will be protected by the people who run the place and. I am sorry your little duplex place offered you even less than what happened to her but it doesn????????????????????????t give you the right condemn others for their misfortune when it is different from your own. What does insurance have to do with it? That doesn't replace my ring that is gone, or my pictures or my favorite necklace I can no longer find. You just hope the people you rent from will treat your things as they would their own. It appears you could use some etiquette classes as you are very rude and disrespectful. And apparently a bit ignorant "dude" should never start a sentence if you want to be taken seriously.

I have to say that AIMCO was far from nice. I lived there for 5 years, and wrote a review on here as well. My review is called "yIKEs." I can't believe that a fortune 500 company such as AIMCO would treat people like this. As if we didn't have enough to contend with. I had lost most of my stuff in the flood, then the construction crew made sure that all the rest of it was damaged beyond saving as well. AIMCO should have been held responsable, but being the welthy company they are, they had their lawyers draw up a release that cleared them of being sued. If we didn't sign the release then we would have to continue paying rent on an apartment that had everything, including the commode torn out! I am a hard worker, who was not sure if I was even going to have a job after the storm, so I had no choice but to sign their release form. The first thing I ask now when I go to rent an apartment is if they are related to AIMCO? If they are I simply walk out. I would rather be homeless than give those people another one of my hard earned dollars.

I lived at the Park during Ike and I was furious with AIMCO in the weeks immediately following. They provided precious little information to anyone and then when they did convey messages, it was in a brunt, almost brutal manner. However, we all have to understand something: these were extreme circumstances. Nobody can fully prepare for a hurricane and the Park staff did the best that they could. Most of the leasing agents and groundscrew lived in the complex and many of them lost more stuff than the rest of us did. You all think it was only difficult for the residents? Get a clue and grow up. These people were suffering along with us...while protecting our property. In regards to terminating the lease, what exactly were they supposed to do? All of the mold in the building made their apartments one giant health hazard. Do you know what happens when people find hazardous mold in their apartment complex? THEY SUE. So AIMCO tears down the apartments to avoid lawsuits. Do you blame them? They didn't charge us for October rent (obviously), they gave us back our deposits, and they wished us well. And moving around your stuff in order to get to the drywall? Are you serious? You know that mold grows in the drywall, right? Would you guys prefer that all of your junk had mold growing all over it instead? I 100% agree that communication should've been better. But once I talked to some of the staff there face-to-face, I was completely at peace with how they handled things. They did the best they could considering the circumstances. To everyone who is complaining about the other stuff: GET OVER YOURSELVES, you weren't the only ones suffering.

Did any of you care to know that everyone one of the staff members lived onsite as well and went through the SAME thing. Selfish morons.
