My husband and I moved to Galveston to be closer to his work and family after Hurricane Ike. I was really excited to move into these historic apartments because of how they looked. I really liked the architecture. At first, everything was wonderful. We lived right next door to the head maintenance man and had all of our issues fixed within a few days. We even had a problem with the plumbing, that needed a plumber, and they had one out to fix the problem quickly. . .
Then things changed . . . We had problems getting in touch with anyone in the office. They never answered the phones or called back. My husband has moderate Asthma and my daughter has allergies and we had problems with VERY large tree roaches that would not stay out of our apartment. The apartments had to send out the exterminator three times and still nothing worked until I purchased house spray myself. The problem also got better when they FINALLY cleaned out the smoke stack that stands in front of our entry door. I finally got fed up with the apartments not answering the phone and NEVER being in the office, so I called the corporate office to complain. Now all of a sudden we start getting notices about our trash not being disposed of properly. Then I received a lease violation for my trash not being placed in the dumpster and being strewn around the outside of the dumpster. When I asked if they had taken pictures for proof, of course, they said no. The office staff is AWFUL and does NOT work with you. They give you lease violations without proof that you actually committed the offense for which they are citing you. We will NOT be renewing our lease. I am very disappointed with this property and will be glad when I can move out!
Also, the gates NEVER work and I was told by the security guards that the motors have been fixed and they are "good to go" but they do NOT work! The kids from the orphanage next door come over to our property and scare and intimidate the residents. The courtesy officer never answers calls, in fact, my husband is a police officer and he answers more calls than the courtesy officer does. My husband and I have a daughter and a son on the way and we will not have our new born live here with all of this trouble going on.

I have lived at this property for a year now and have never run across the problems you have. I have talked to the office staff about the gates and in no way is that related to them, it is left over issues from the hurricane. I also have experienced the kids next door and they are incredibly friendly. Ive never had an issue with any crime on the property and think that you are a bit high strung. Ive even received a lease violation and the reason was explained professionally and kindly AND was deserved. One violation doesn't even hurt you. Everyone at this community (with clear exceptions) is quiet and friendly. MY only recommendation is to not move next to this lady!
