Maintenance is incompetent! Don't waste your money here!

I know people mostly come to this site to post problems. I had no problems with this place until recently.
When we moved in, we had a great deal - $640 for a 2 br/2 bath. We had no issues, and then we had a lease renewal where they bumped the rent up to $670. I still had no problem paying that because everything was fine. However, our A/C started going out at that time. No problem. Maintenance was on top of it. I was annoyed that all they did was put a bandaid on an "old" problem (if you get my drift), but eventually they had no choice but put in a new A/C unit.
The appliances in this place are old. Our refrigerator shelves were broken or cracked. Again, maintenance responded reasonably by replacing our fridge. However, our dishwasher is now leaving white crud all over our dishes. I would report it, but after the recent events I'm afraid to ask for help.
A few weeks ago, some maintenance men were working in an adjacent apartment. They managed to flood part of our apartment in the process. The bathroom cabinets are warped and buckling. They used the wet vac on the carpet, cut out the pad and left the stinky carpet behind with no cleaning. They still have not replaced the padding.
Then, our kitchen sink backed up this weekend. We called the emergency number and they sent the on call maintenance guy. To make a long story short, he was rude, managed to let my dog out without a leash and managed to flood our apartment because he obviously didn't know what he was doing. When I walked in from chasing the dog, buckets of water were gushing all over the floor and no maintenance man was in sight. He returned several minutes later, offered no apologies, used a wet vac and left. The sink was still broken, and carpet all over my apartment was soaking wet. No one returned to help me clean up the mess that THEY made.
Monday they sent someone to fix the problem. It was basically a bandaid repair, because several days later, the sink backed up again. They sent a real plumber this time, so hopefully no more problems.
However, we were promised a carpet cleaning today. I believe in giving people a chance to make up for their mistakes. My husband spent his entire day off waiting for someone to arrive. We called and asked where the carpet guys were... at least twice. Each time we were given a vague answer such as "oh, they don't have a set schedule" or "they don't get started until about 2 p.m." Needless to say, no one has shown up to clean the carpet. At the end of the day, we were told that someone "might" come tomorrow. No one has yet addressed the fact that the walls are soaked as well.
At this point, I'm beyond angry. Mold is a health issue for everyone, but I have an allergy to mold. After the first flooding incident, I've already had one week of illness. Because of this latest incident, I will be calling the City of Garland to report their lack of action. They should have had fans, dehumidifiers and other measures in place already to prevent mold growth. We will be looking to break the lease if these issues aren't resolved.
In addition, you can't walk anywhere when it rains. Even if it only rains for a few minutes, the sidewalks are flooded for days. Kids play unattended in the pools and make an insane amount of noise. The water pressure is weak and the toilets don't flush well. And now they want to charge an extra $25 a month if you want to have covered parking.
And just before this latest drama went down, we signed another 12 month lease where they increased our rent to $710. I refuse to throw that much money into a place where the management can't take care of it's property.

The place has become a hole since Advenir bought the property. Rent has gone up. Maintenance is a joke. I agree with the assessment of the poster above.

I second that response. I lived in "The Pavilion" for 2 1/2 yrs. starting 2003. Never had a problem, maintance was wonderful and so was office staff. I payed 399 for a one bd.rm, granted these apartments were built around the time I was born(1983). Once the countdown started for my lease to be up things started to fall apart. Mgmt was pocketing money by tennants and so on.....Other than that its your responsiblity to do some research. Sometimes you get what you pay for!!!
