Not as great as it seems

When we moved here we thought that it would be a decent place. Well first the electricity bill is always outrageous. Keeping it @ 78 and 80 the bill is always around 200 - 300. Management had the maintenance man come out and he said it was the electricity always going on and off. Okay, do they really think I am stupid' Water bill is always crazy. $50 plus. The carpets cannot come clean and still smell. We filled out an inventory list when we moved in, clearly noted the problems. When we asked to move into a 1 bedroom they "inspected" our apartment. Everything that was on the inventory list is now our fault and they want $775 for new carpet. The 2 stains were here when we moved in, noted on the inventory list. And they want $250 for new counter tops, again scratches were noted on the inventory list. The pipes leak. Constantly working on them at all hours of the day and night. Apartments are flooding all the time. Roaches are abundant. Worst part. MOLD! Mold in the air vents. The maintenance man told us that it was insulation, but it would be best to keep that vent closed so the insulation would not spread. Really, these people think everyone is stupid. The kitchen pipe broke and we did not notice it for a day or so, since it just sat under the sink. They were prompt on fixing the pipe. But they do not care about the rotting moldy wood under the sink. The roaches love it under there. The faucets drip tremendously and they do not care. Profanity is written on cars and gum, nasty, and other nasty stuff is smeared on the cars by the unsupervised children. Some people play the radio so loud that it vibrates your floor. Police are extremely unprofessional in taking care of this. Again management does not care. It took over 7 months for them to give us a copy of our lease after constant daily nagging. One month we dropped the rent in the mail slot at the office after midnight on the 3rd as we where coming back from out of town. We woke to an eviction notice on our door. The stairs are falling apart. Two of the four support bars do not even touch the stairs. The foundation is falling apart. Heck the inside is falling apart. The pantry door fell off the hinges. It looks like the wood has just rotted away. Could be termites, I am not sure, I try to avoid home as the mold is making us so sick.

I can say that we learned a lot from this experience. Investigate the apartments fully before you move into them. We want to take the mold problem to the authorities, but we are afraid that we would be evicted or harassed. We have talked first hand to several tenants and when they have taken their problems to officials their lives become a living hell. Fortunately our lease is up in 3 months. I have a sick feeling they are going to leave us with a bill of some sort saying all this stuff that is wrong is our fault and we need to fix it. Every weekend I see people moving out. Have only seen one person move in in the 9 months we have lived here. Starting to hear gun shots a lot.
