We lived at The Lakeway Colony Apartments located off E Interstate 30 in Garland, TX for a year and half. The rent price was cheap. It goes without saying, but you get what you pay for here.

*Staff:
The office staff....lets just say they are "special". The maintenance service is slow and office staff is rude and unprofessional. They are snappy with comebacks though, good with snide remarks too.

*The manager is nice sometimes, mostly when you give her money. She is also quick to type up an unprofessional poorly written notice about whatever she feels like harassing you about that day. If you move here just make sure you get a receipt for EVERYTHING.

*The rest of the staff are completely unfriendly and downright rude most days. We would avoid them at all costs! They don't really do anything except disgust residents most days!

Great job ladies! Perhaps some customer service seminars would be beneficial in the future.

Cons:
-We had a bug problem that no one seem to be able to get rid of.

-Recently there have been problems with security. There are very few lights outside and we know of two cars that have been stolen and many other vehicles have been broken into, including ours. They have not sent any notices out about any of the break-ins or stolen cars.

-We also had a bicycle stolen of off our patio

-Some of the residents do not follow the leash on dog rule , some also do not pick up after their pet

-We purchased a gym key, and for what I don't know. The equipment is always busted, half of it isn't working properly and to be perfectly honest, it isn't worth the time to even go there. Waste of money.

-bad foundation problem

Pros:
The park is ok

Pools are great, including the one Olympic sized pool in the back section of the complex

The price isn't bad for the room in the apartments

We love the area they are located in

My neighbors have been really great also

Overall I would recommend this community to younger people who are just starting out and people who don't have the best of credit, other than that I would say MOVE ON!

Wow! Discovering this site made my day. I was also a tenant at Lakeway colony '08/'09 and had all sorts of problems there also. I had a rat as a co-tenant for the duration of my lease with them. They were not able to get rid of the rat. I come home almost everytime I'm out and finds an evidence of someone being in my apartment while I was out. Complained many times, but it continued. I was so glad when my lease ended and so happy that I was going to move out. I gave them notice and told them my reason for moving out. They came up with different offers, and called me several times to change my mind, which I all rejected, but I did not know that they were getting ready to frame me. A couple of days before I moved out, I came back from work and found the door to the washer and dryer area was completely damaged (one side). I called them to find out what had happened, but of course they never have any idea about such things. On the day I moved out, I wanted them to walk the apartment with me, because I was already suspecious about their behavior, but the claimed that that they didn't have anyone around to do that, that day and that they will call me the next business day when they will do inspection. They never did. The next time I heard from them was when they sent me a long list of bill that I was being charged for, and this marked the beginning of my battle with them, which is still going on right now. I am going all the way with this issue, to wherever its going to take us, because I don't believe I owe them a dime. I will keep you all posted.

I know what you mean I lived a year in Harbor Point which is part of Lakeway Colony. I too was so excited about the great price for such a large apartment. Then I moved in. They said they couldn't show me the apartment I was to get but I had seen on supposedly like it. After signing the lease I went to move in and the first thing I saw was two large openings they had made in the ceiling, ok I thought at first this was the cooling unit, but that was in the bathroom so I wondered what that was about then there were covers all over the walls. I later foud out that when they get leaks they just cut holes in the ceilings or walls to fix them and replace them with a cover or door. My apartment flooded 4 times from the upstairs dishwaher and I mean it flooded the whole kitchen, hall and dining area. The water was just running out of the walls. The last time it flooded water was just gushing out of the ceiling and over the counter onto the floor. If I had not been there my computer and everthing would have been soaked. The apartment smelled like it was molded from all the flooding, not to mention the danger of having water running from light fixtures and electrical plugs. After moving they are now trying to charge us $834.00 for new carpet they say was too stained to clean. The truth is is stunk so bad it had to be replaced. They said they had to replace blinds and resurface the counter which was not true. I made sure to keep the counter tops up because they did look pretty new when I moved in. I have talked to several people that have moved from there and this seems to be they way they always do it. Whatever you do don't move here. This place really sucks and these people are scam artist in my opinion. Upon turning in my keys I don't them what a hazzard this apartment was to live in but they don't seem to worry about that. I guess when someone is killed in a fire from faulty electrical wiring caused by water running on it they will get a little concerned. I don't think We don't think I owe them either but don't seem to be getting anywhere with them.
