I absolutely loved my apartment, its ammenities, cleanliness, and response time to maintence requests is less than 24 hours. The reason I had to move is because the location on the north side of Garland is not good for the social life of a young person who wants to meet singles and enjoy the nightlife of Dallas and Addison. The sometimes loud late night pool parties mentioned by others ceased in summer 2007 because I knew those people and they all moved. The gate is broken a lot, but I never heard of any crime problems. I had no loud neighbors, and barely even saw any of them.
My only serious complaint is that the staff in the leasing office is nice until you sign a lease, then they could care less about you. They are especially horrible at writing down the details of maintence requests. Several times I had to call more than once because the 3 words they had scrawled on the maintence sheet didn't describe my problem accurately or elaborately enough for the maintence guy to know what he had to do, this happened even after I told them how they misinterpretted me the first time! However the older woman who works conceirge services in the rec center office is genuinely friendly and very helpful. Although it would be better if her office didn't accept packages cuz her weekday hours are only 1-6PM and that makes it impossible for a normal working person to collect their packages until Saturday.

Agreed, the staff is terrible. It used to be better when the office staff actually lived in the apartments. But that was several years ago. I've lived there out of laziness and the hassle of moving. But it's gotten so bad, I couldn't stand to stay any longer.
I'll reiterate, the front office staff will act nice when they want you to sign. But day-to-day, THEY DO NOT CARE about the tenants (whose rent pays their salaries). The rec office concierge is genuinely nice, but packages delivered to her office sit for days without a notice being sent to the tenant that they have a package to pick up.
Where are the owners and why don't they fire this incompetent staff? Stoneleigh was nice years ago and could be again if the office staff cared about the place.
