So my apartment just got broken into for the second time since I have lived there and for the third time that I know of in less than two years. Some apartments are tucked so well into corners that the only witnesses to crime are the cars zooming by on the highways.
Someone was murdered on property less than a year ago and I don't think it was random but who knows since apartment offices aren't allowed to provide details like that.
No areas are super well lit and and some areas aren't lit at all and considering that the property isn't in the greatest part of town and the track record of crime in the complex (residents get a flyer every few months on their doors updating the number of recent home break-ins) it can be scary to walk to or from the parking lot after dark.
Construction is crazy around the complex but that's the city's fault. However Windridge started renovations a few months back and it seems like they have all but abandoned the efforts. Porch barriers and balcony walls have been primed since the summer but no paint has been applied. Breezeways are filthy.
Maintenance is usually excellent. Occasionally the staff takes a while to get someone out but when my boyfriend and I have called with emergencies someone has been sent right out and nine out of ten times the problem has been fixed the first time. When our toilet was unable to repaired on the day or request the staff gave us a key to one of the models so that we might use the bathroom until it could be fixed the next day. That kind of consideration for residents goes above and beyond.
I have heard that the walls are thin through other reviews here but didn't hear my neighbors ever until the past week or two when someone new moved in above me. Which means either the last residents were super quiet or these are super noisy. Either way it's apartment living.
Pools are well maintained and clean. There are times when they are overcrowded with guests or people who don't live at the complex but that's true of any complex that isn't militant about its pool rules. And who wants to live somewhere the pools are locked at ten pm'
Overall I don't feel safe but I am a woman living on the first floor. The complexes might get a higher score from me if they would finish prettying up the place. We pay too much for a one bedroom but it's not a terrible value.
