Years at this apartment: 2008 - 2009
I have lived in these apartments for almost a year and plan on renewing my lease when its up. The rent is not outrageous and they have pretty good move in specials, when I moved it I got two weeks free and my deposit was only $150. After first looking at the apartments I filled out the application ($40) and I was told within 30 minutes of leaving that I was approved and went in and signed my lease the following week. I dealt with Christina she was very good and went through everything very well, to this day if I have an issue I deal with her because shes very good at following up and making sure that everythings ok.
Parts of the property arent lit very well, the section that I live on is by the tennis courts and the lights that are attached to the building work, but the trees are so huge they block some/most of the light. There is no assigned parking, but the building that I live in we all genearlly park in the same spots every day so I still get the parking spot I want 95% of the time, with the exceptions of coming home really late or one of my neighbors having a party. I have had problems with noise but thats more of a neighbor problem than the apartments problem. I have had to call out courtesy patrol and crime strike and even the police for my upstairs neighbors but I think it was just because theyre are really inconsiderate and would blare their music so loud I could hear every word in the song and they would jump and dance to the music so I couldnt even think. I spoke with the management about it a few times and at first got the stock "call courtesy patrol" when it happens, but once it got more frequent and patrol wouldnt come out or take over an hour to come out I went to the office and spoke to Christina about it and the property manager called me the next day and took care of it so now I dont have to worry about it anymore. As for the lady who stated she had roaches, I have never had a roach problem. They fumigated once and I saw a couple after that but I sprayed some roach repellant and havent seen any since.
I have the small apartment in phase one and I thought it was kinda weird that I dont have light fixtures on the ceiling in my living room or bedroom. I had to go out and buy a lamp for a bedroom light, also the light switch in the bedroom and the living room control one of the wall outlets. Its no big deal once you get used to it, and I'm sure that its just because our apartments are the older ones in the complex, my friend lives in phase two and she has light fixtures and ceiling fans. (There are over 700 aparment units in the complex) The construction on NW 19th/161 used to be horrible but theyre pretty much done so its a lot easier to get to the entrance now. There are security gates, theyre generally open during the day and then closed once it gets dark but like any other apartment complex with gates there will be cars waiting for someone to open the entrance gate and follow them in. Someone did break into my section of the mailboxes, they broke the wood around the lock so they could pop the entire thing open and get into like 30 mailboxes, the maintence fixed it about a week later, but luckily nothing was missing out of mine except for junk mail. Theyre in the process of paing the aparments so they look like crap right now, they were primering them but for some reason havent finsihed and moved onto painting the gates. So we have half white half tan building with half black half red gates.
There is 24 hour emergency maintence so if your AC or heater goes out or your toilet floods someone will come out to fix it. When it iced they brought out their own salt trucks to put salt down so people wouldnt fall, they even put it in between the cars. About once a month they hand out free breakfast at the gate between like 7:30 and 8a, which is pretty cool. If you refer someone you get $100 off your rent for that month. There have been a couple break ins throughout the complex and they let you know by leaving you a note on your door on what to look out for. Some apartments do come with alarms and you can have them monitered by the alarm company. Also they have a company they use and you can rent a washer and dryer for like $20 a month and if anything goes wrong with them they fix it.
Overall I like these apartments and plan on moving to a bigger apartment once I renew my lease. I have recommended these apartments to friends and family and will do so again.
