My husband and I got had a lease with Montelena for 1 year, in that time our rent was never late and we never called the office for any problems. Even though our electric bill was over $200 a month for a 2 bd. apt. we called once for them to fix the unit and it was never fixed. When we moved out we were charged $500 for the so called "clean-up", to which my mother and I spent an entire day cleaning. They charged us $350 for "carpet replacement" which we had listed the day we moved in that it needed to be replaced. There were rust stains and the carpet was wearing when we moved in. During our lease there were notices posted around the apt. that attempted abductions were happening on the property and 4 air conditioning units had been stolen, so needless to say it was not a safe place for my 6 month old daughter and I to stay at alone when my husband worked. The day we moved out the freon in the air conditioning unit had been stolen so we had no air while we moved out, but we were still charged $500 for OUR so called "damages". Now they are barely working with me to be able to pay the charge in 2 payments rather than just 1. DO NOT RENT FROM MONTELENA it is a very unsafe place, especially if you have children!
