What you see is what you get! The exterior seen from Joe Ramsey Blvd., does the complex justice. Once you walk past the plain brick walls you can see that the grounds are only moderately maintained, and depending on the location of the apartment, somewhat landscaped. The apartments themselves need updating. The cabinets are particle board, and the appliances are dated. Both the garbage disposal and dishwasher are extremely loud. I know from experience that management is not fond of younger tenants. Although young, I am a successful, well mannered professional. NOT, the party child I have been stereotyped as. I have received multiple notices informing that my neighbors have complained of noise, loud talking, and slamming doors. On two of these occasions I was out of town, and returned home to find publicly humiliating notes taped to my front door. Im not sure this is a management problem, but rather a group of grumpy old neighbors passing the blame. I would like to be given the benefit of the doubt. I am on the verge of being evicted for things that are not my fault. Additionally, these apartments are not suited for Day Sleepers. The landscapers and maintenance men show no mercy. Work begins promptly at 8:00am. Safety is also a concern. There is no outside surveillance to my knowledge, and my stereo has been stolen from my vehicle. So in conclusion, the apartments themselves are okay (being generous), and reasonably priced. But management is aging, and the younger tenants may have to prove their worthiness of the apartment. My advice, avoid management at all costs, drop your rent check in the drop box after hours, make friendly with the neighbors, and be inside before dark. Is it worth all the hassle' It depends. If you can find a nice apartment with somewhat educated management, who care about their tenants, please let me know. Otherwise, Highland Terrace Apartment is comparable to any decent complex in the area.
