I have lived here for almost 6 years now. I have the same complaints as several of the other people that have rated Fairway on this site.
I have had a problem with the ceiling leaking since I moved in. They used to come out and fix it when I put a work order in, but back in the spring of 2007 when we had so much rain it started leaking again. It is now Febuary 2008 and nothing has still been done. My ceiling in my bedroom is falling down. When I ask the office staff they say that it shows that it has been repaired.
I told the office staff that some things had come up missing out of my apartment and that the maintenance guy came in without even knocking one time when my friend and my friends father were sitting right in the living room. They accused me of having someone living there that was not on the lease. Then when my lease came up for renewal a couple of weeks later they raised my rent $21.00 a month. Like I said before, I have lived here for almost 6 years. My rent has never gone up. It has gone down 2 times, but never up. The manager Julie said that it was because I was so far below market value and it would keep going up until I get to what they are currently renting for. I do not think that this is right. I have never been late paying my rent and I have never caused any problems. I am a single mother on very fixed income and I think since I am such a good tenant that any smart manager would want to keep me in the apartment paying on time instead of me leaving and them getting someone that does not pay on time or causes problems.
I also have put several maintenance request in over the years that have never been fixed.
The new management gets an "F" rating from me!
Also, my new lease did not have the correct deposit on it that I paid and

My mom had an issue similar to this at the Club of Spring Lake apartments. My best advice to you is to call a lawyer and seek advice. It's free and if you happen to need them in the future about something like this, it's good to already know who you want. Also, try calling code enforcement. I'm sure there's something they can do to help you. Lastly, tell the office you won't be paying your rent until they properly fix what's needed to be fixed. Take lots of pictures with a date stamp and if they do come to fix it, take pictures of what they did. It's simply to cover your butt. If the office tries to pull some crap about throwing you out because you haven't paid your rent, tell them you will be contacting your lawyer because they haven't done what they're supposed to do and code enforcement will be called because you're living in an unsafe environment. Best of luck to you! Hopefully my advice will help you. I've lived in those apartments before and I was there only 6 months... I know how much of a pain in the ass they are.
