My wife and I lived there for 4 months on a six month contract. We paid the off the last two months and turned in the keys. We were sound asleep one night and then heard about 14 gunshots let fly right across the way. Then saw the punks jump in the SUV and speed off. Then a bunch of kids (gang bangers) run out of their places and jump around cheering about it.
This place is the ghetto.
Dont' be fooled by how nice it looks from a distance. Up close you can see all of the defered maintanace. The balconies are falling off due to wood rot. I stepped on a rusty nail one day because I forgot to dodge them all that day.
During the summer large SUV's will pull up to the swimming pool and blast rap music and bass so loud it will rattle your windows.
There are constantly police patroling the parking lot. Which might seem like a good thing, but it isn't.
The AC couldn't keep our our apartment below 80 on a hot day. The "Lake" in the name "springlake" is just a mud puddle full of muskrats and mean geese that chase you.
The rent is cheap, but pay a few more bucks to feel safe at night.

Gosh you are so right. My advice to anyone that is seriously thinking of liveing here. Dont do it. You would want to feel safe with your kids and feel safe that your car will not get broken into. Pay the extra money to move to a safer community
