Over the past year my wife and I have lived at Elm Hollow. We chose Elm Hollow because of the community's accessibility to our respective locations of employment.
The positive attributes of Elm Hollow far exceed any compromises one may need to accept.
Firstly, I particularly liked the grounds and the wooded areas that surround the community. My wife and I felt like we were not in the middle of the fastest growing metropolitan area in Texas. Each evening the drive into the community instantly dissolved any stressors I was bringing home from work or traffic. The community is quiet and during our year of residency I do not think I have ever been annoyed by neighbors save some children having fun on a Saturday morning.
Secondly, Elm Hollow is a fine choice for an apartment home because of the accessibility to many of San Antonio's finest shopping centers and entertainment venues. The Bandera Point shopping center is only minutes away as is the La Cantera Mall. The Rim shopping center is quite near and all three shopping areas can be accessed without even driving on Loop 1604. Residents also have their choice of catching a flick at the Silverado or Palladium movie theaters. Flores Country Store is but a short drive from Elm Hollow and is always a hub for Texas country musicians. One last positive aspect is the close location to the O.P. Schnabel Park and the Crown Ridge Natural Area. Both San Antonio parks are pleasant evening or weekend getaways.
Next, there are also many fine restaurants and eateries that can be easily accessed from Elm Hollow, some at the previously mentioned shopping centers. My favorties include El Chapparal, Bobby J's Hamburgers, Kona Grill, Bravo!, Pericos, Red Robin, and Starbucks (right across the street).
Families looking to live at Elm Hollow would be interested to know that their children would be attending the very best preforming schools in the Northside Independant School District. Helotes Elementary School, Jefferson Middle School, and O'Conner High School have high expectations for students and choosing Elm Hollow would ensure your child receives nothing but the best.
Next, seemingly each week or every other week Elm Hollow gives back to their residents via food. A couple of residents give their time to cook and have outdoor barbeques or breakfasts compliments of Elm Hollow. The free food is a nice touch after a hard day of work, and is also rewarding for a weekend brunch.
During the year my wife and I have lived at Elm Hollow we needed little contact with office personel or maintenance staff until an incident a few months ago resulting from aging materials. The biggest asset Elm Hollow has is the maintenance and grounds keeper Christian. Trustworthy maintenance staff at an apartment community is hard to come by. Christian is worth his weight in gold.
Frankly, the only negative aspects about Elm Hollow is a parking situation after 9 PM and the trash. After 9 PM you may end up walking quite a distance (100-200 yards) to your residence. I would recommend renting a covered parking space which completely alleviates the problem. If you have multiple vehicles, rent one spot and you will always have one spot to come home to. The compacting trash receptacle becomes unappealing on certain days. Elm Hollow offers curbside trash pickup. As long as you remember the correct trash pickup day you will never even see the trash compacting receptacle on a bad day.
As you can now understand the positive attributes of Elm Hollow far exceed any negatives. I feel comfortable recommending Elm Hollow to anyone as their next apartment home. If you are concidering moving into the fast growing Northwest San Antonio area, you should include Elm Hollow in your search.

In my opinion, this is obviously an advertisement for this complex. I mean, Jefferson Middle School just opened to students one week ago and the writer is calling it one of the best performing schools? I think a very desperate staff member(s) is behind this review......and anyone familiar with Elm Hollow KNOWS why the staff is desperate. Greystar needs to look into a complete overhaul of managemen. They manage to offend just about everyone - you are a poor soul indeed if you are forced to deal with them at any level. Rude, mean and, again in my opinion, acting with questionable integrity. One word for this Chamber of Commerce drivel - outrageous!

I'm with you. The maintenance team at Elm Hollow is a joke! Anybody who says that the maintenance guy is worth his weight in gold needs to have his head examined. He doesn't even know half of the issues at this poor excuse for a community. One community I lived at had a maintenance man worth his weight 10X in gold! I would call the office for a maintenance request and he would arrive literally before I hung up the phone. These guys take their sweet time (2-3 weeks) and that is if they even know about it. Watch out for these people because they will even try to charge you for maintenance and repairs while you are still living there!!

You people are crazy......nice place to live, good maintenance and staff...maybe you did something wrong at the complex or got asked to leave...charges are only made when you move out and leave a mess in the apartment....sounds like you have some real personal issues....

when we moved out of our place, we spent two days cleaning the apartment. We even had the carpets steam cleaned and made sure everything was in proper order. The office, however, had the carpets replaced and decided to charge us for it!! Why in the world would you spend all of that money to have the carpets professionally cleaned and then turn around and pay extra for replacement? This is a tactic that this staff uses to bleed you dry from your hard earned money that could be used for something else more useful... like for rent at a better community!!
