Hello,

I have been living at Elm Hollow for three years now, and this is my honest opinion of these apartment homes.

When we first moved in, they were re constructing alot of the apartment buildings.

My son then was 2 years of age, and we were constantly making sure he would not step on a nail, etc.

They were painting also, so we had to make sure to avoid wet paint.

As time went on, we discovered the Cares Team here at the apartments.

The Cares Team is an apartment organization to help build the community.

They serve breakfast twice a month, a dinner, and different functions such as fall parties and so on.

They are very nice to attend, and we have enjoyed going on occasion.

We also have been able to connect with our neighbors.

It is nice knowing you are safe with your neighbors, and knowing they keep an eye out, especially for the children.

I have no problem allowing my son, who is now five, out to the court yard to play knowing that he is safe and supervised with the other adults and children, who know me as well.

We all help one another.

Now, an issue that has been a constant struggle since day one here, is definately the parking.

We all know at Elm Hollow there has been a parking problem.

We refuse to pay an additional fee for covered parking, because we feel we should have that regardless, and visitors should park in the uncovered areas.

I think that should be a solution.

There have been times I had to park on the opposite side of the complex because I had no choice otherwise.

One time I had a car full of groceries and needed to unload but had to park in the middle of the street ( of which im sure other ppl thought was rude but again, I had no choice ) to bring my groceries up the stairs.

Also, the management team has not always been the best.

Last year for Christmas, I went all out for the decorations.

I then had been informed there would be a light contest.

The girl who once worked in the office, came around to check the lights.

Just so happend my lights at the time were not working.

I asked if she could go around the apartments one more time to check, and she refused.

Just as she left around the corner, my lights were working.

I asked if she could come check them out since they were working and she said no, they were finished.

I was so upset because I worked really hard on these lights, and to know they would not care and was extremely rude about it upset me.

Luckily, two months later she was fired for cheating on the guy from the office.

They both were, actually.

That is when a new employee came to work for the office and she has done a great job ever since.

A guy wrote a review on here regarding a rock incident in his window.

I actually knew of that situation, and the apartments did make him pay for the problem of which was unfair.

Overall, living here at Elm Hollow has had its up and downs.

However, if you choose to live here in peace and get along with the community and enjoy the good out of it, you will be fine.

Every place definately has its pros and cons.

I think with Elm Hollow it is obvious what the cons are, but also the pros are great ones and can outweigh the cons.

It is a nice community, and I have enjoyed living here.

Are you Jeff? If so, I was your neighbor across from you. We actually became good friends, and I knew of your situation. The lights were a problem for me because I was prepared, and just so happend a bulb needed to be moved in order for them to work properly. I am speaking for myself in this review. If you notice, the headline is "an opinion". I understand not everyone has had a good experience while living at Elm Hollow. Everyone goes through different situations, and the perspective is percieved differently also. I am stating the pros and cons from my own experience while living here. Please do not make any assumptions. I am not the one that called the fire marshall, nor did I get snippy with you at the computer center. I am simply a neighbor that has lived here for quite sometime to know how it is around here, from my own experience. Please verify who you are, and im sure we once knew each other. Alot has changed since you have moved out for the better. There is a new staff in the office and they are doing a better job.

I cannot believe that you would actually recommend this place to prospective tenants. From your opinions, it looks like you never had any problems... Getting the office staff to look at your Christmas lights and decorations after they had already made the rounds? Give me a break! It looks like you just weren't ready when they were conducting the contest. That is not a major issue. As for the guy with the broken window... That was my apartment. I did not get on to any neighbors about it because I know who did it. The management and maintenance staff were giving me the runaround saying that they had to find a licensed and bonded contractor that worked on this particular brand of window. Oh please... replacing a window or a pane of glass should not take two months, especially after the tenant moves out. If it was a high end window such as Pella, I might understand. I was very cordial and respective with my neighbors around me. I never started anything, nor was I looking for trouble. But if somebody messes with me, my family, or my property... look out. I am just protecting what is my own. This is for my own safety and the safety of my family. I bet you were probably the one that called the fire marhsall on me while I was cooking on my grill. Or maybe you were the one that got snippy with me at the computer center because I asked you to open a locked door so I could get back in and resume my time on the computer. Anyways, all of the office staff is a joke, the parking is a joke, the trash recepticle is a joke, and the whole entire complex is a joke. I am actually living at another Greystar managed community that is 10x worse than Elm Hollow (not by choice). Fortunately I do not have the same issues that plagued me while living at Elm Hollow. Of course I won't be recommending the property that I am currently living at. I hope that somebody takes a wrecking ball to the Elm Hollow community and turns it into a huge parking lot. (RESPONSE TO THE RESPONSE ABOVE:) Yes it is me. And my opinion of Elm Hollow will never change because of the way they treated me. Even if things "seem to have gotten better" they still rubbed me the wrong way. They couldn't and wouldn't meet with me face to face on MANY issues that I had. Whether it was about our covered parking debacle, maintenance requests, the criminal tresspass charge if I went into the office (the snippy lady at the computer center), and for not siding with a resident whenever a person that is not welcome to my house is trespassing. (The angry "father at the swimming pool".) Thank you for pointing this out Christina, but there are bigger issues at stake with this property. To all other potential tenants: Don't even waste your time stopping by this property. They will happily take your money after over-charging you for rent and not be willing to help if you have an issue with your rental.

I have to say I agree with jlr128...Ive been a resident of 2 and a half years and am looking for another place to move to. Been trying to get a house but with the housing market the way it is, its pretty tough to get financing. Anyways, my beef with elm hollow is their staff, poor parking, and poor security. Some time ago, I dont remember when exactly, the apartment office was broken into and the culprits stole all of the residents checks. They tried to duplicate it, of which mine was one of them, and attempted to withdraw large amounts of money from our accounts. Luckily they were caught before they could get away with it. They tried to take over 9000 from my account. If elm hollows security had been what it should be it would not have happened in the first place. Secondly, the parking is horendous. Yes they explanded and added spots but I still cannot find a parking space and end up having to park far away from my apartment which due to my work I dont get home until very late and am nervous to walk all that way alone in the dark. Third, when it comes to maintenance it take an act of congress to get anything done. When I needed maintenance on my apartment, which kept me from using many functions of my apartment for several weeks (of which I was paying for), the staff did little to hurry along the process. Instead they told me they had to hir contractors to finish the job and left me for two weeks waiting. Not only that, I dont trust how the maintenance have copies of the keys which give them access to the apartments at any time. Ive had several occasions where I was not warned as to their coming and have strange men walk into my apartment. Overall, the look and feel of elm hollow is nice but I for one am first to say youre not getting what youre over-paying for.

If you take the time to read your contract, it does cover the does and dont's as to waht you can and cannot do at your apartment. The only issue I have here is with the memos being left on your door when you are at home. A simple knock would take care of that problem. The staff is great, maintenance well actually come and fix things in your apartment. Unlike other apartment some maintenance problems can take forever with them, but this complex is on top of maintenance. The apperance of the place is great. Yes parking is an issue; however, if I am not mistaken there are only two cars allowed per apartment complex. Also, unlike other complex's the gates actually work so that is a plus. As far as covered parking, you should have to pay for that, you pay to park in a parking garage that is covered, also it guarantees a spot that no one else can park in. Just like a reserved spot at work, if anyone here happens to have one of those. So spend the $25 a month to get that spot so your not fighting for parking. Next, maintenance can only do so much. By law certain issues a contractor is needed if its in the clause of this place. A contractor is a licensed professional. For the complaint on maintenance having a key. Think about that, if your not at home and you put a work order in, they leave a note letting you know they where in your apartment. Again alot of other complexs maintenance team does not do that. If the fire marshal is checking fire alarms or fire extinguishers they have to get access to those things. Its also a safety issue as well that they have a copy of the key to your apartment. Yes, you signed the lease, but you don't own the building.... You can also let management know that you would prefer them not to come in if your not at home. Usually they well knock before they come in. They have never just 'walked in on me.' If you have an issue persistance pays off, not annoyance or harassing management. Their job is the function and operations of the apartment, if a contractor is needed a contractor is needed, maintenance cannot fix everything. Their are more positives then negatives about this place.

You must be a family who does not care if you step in dog poop and track it into your apartment....or..you work at Elm Hollow and are the manager....and whoever posted the response before this one must represent "elm swallows" and should know that eventhough you pay $25 a month for a parking space does not mean you'll actually get to park in it....THERE ARE MORE NEGATIVES THAN POSITIVES....QUIT TELLING UN-TRUTHS!!!
