Initially, I was told that water would be billed on an individual base. However, after a couple of months and continuous pipe breaks and water leaks, the complex decided to bill water at a flat rate of $25 (which was a jump from my monthly $10). Of course our complaints went unanswered. The complex constantly turned off the water due to "maintenance issues." Most of the time there was no advance notice, but when there was, it was usually an hour before they turned it off (most people were already at work by that time). There were times we were without water for up to 2 days (without reimbursement). And when it was not completely off, the pressure was really low.

The gate only worked about 10% of the time. And parking was a nightmare. If you came home after 8p.m. on Friday or Saturday, forget it. Security was a joke. When you actually needed him, he would often be too busy flirting with residents to help. Noise was also a big problem. I expected some levels of noise living in an apartment, buy my experiences were unbearable. The walls were so paper thin that I could hear my neighbor s entire conversations from my bathroom.

Now let s move to the biggest problem of all, maintenance. Trying to get a work order fixed was such a hassle. There was usually a week turnaround period (and that is only if you continue to call the office.) The maintenance men were incompetent. I have had maintenance track mud on my carpet; make the original issue worst and show up without tools. A couple of times, my roof began to leak due to a broken air conditioner. I was told to use pots and pans to contain the water and then the guy used up all of my toilet paper cleaning up the water. Also, there were many times during the summer when the air conditioner completely stopped working. My apartment actually reached 90 degrees. I had to threaten to sue, to get them to fix it.

The funniest incident was when my neighbor had water leaking from his apartment to our shared walkway outside. When the water began to breed bad odors and mosquitoes, maintenance finally came to fix the problem. I was asked if I had any bleach. When I gave it to him, he poured the entire bottle outside my door, stepped in it, then walked back into my apt. I had bleach stains everywhere, which the manager promised to fix. Of course it stayed like that until I moved out. After talking to other neighbors, I was told things like that happened often.

The laundry room usually was out of order. However, in all fairness, that was not really the apartments' fault. My complaints came when ever couple of months, the price to wash went up (again without notice.) A lot of other residents complained about a bad roach problem. I can't say that I had that issue, I guess I was lucky. But there was a bad rodent problem outside of the complex because the trash dumpsters were constantly overflowing.

In conclusion, I will say, for the price, these apartments are probably the best deal you will find on Westheimer, however, in my opinion, the "deal" was not worth all of the headache.

I'm living here since 2005.I an my neighbors are happy about the security whcih is very tight after changing keypad systme into card system.Maintainence is usually taken care the same day.I do understand when the complex is highly occupied we find parking problem. As it is free parking there is plenty of parking avilable. Its looks like you might have posted the rating to wrong property or you should be a competitor to this property.Since this management is in place from 2007 we have seen a lot of changes and difference.I can only tell you do not ruin and play with good and working peopleslives.

I was very surprised to get a reply for my review. I can only say that I wanted to give an honest assessment of my experiences at 7979 Westheimer. I have no ulterior motives, I did not post to the wrong property and I am not a competitor. In fact, everything in my in my post is correct, accurate and has been documented. What works for you may not work for others and vice versa. My purpose is to give reviewers a heads up about potential problems they may face. I thought that is what a reviewer website is all about. It is not necessary to respond to my post. If you feel so strongly about this apartment complex, you need to create your own post, and tell your own experience. Obviously there are many people who feel the same way about this complex that I do (hint the low recommendation rating). Your experiences are your experiences and my experiences are mine. But you should not try to stop people who want others to know about what they dealt with. I decided to post because this website helped me to choose my current apartment, and I love it. I thought it was my duty to do my part and help someone else who wanted an inside view of common issues. That is all!
