I live here but I don't love it, anymore. I've lived at 9900 on Memorial for almost 5 years and have watched it slowly but surely go down hill. When I first moved in, anytime I had a problem it was FIXED within 24 hours or LESS. Now, I'm lucky if they even come to check it within a week. I do not have a problem with rats or roaches, but I have seen LOTS of rats on the property. I've seen them around the pool area, around the bushes and on top of the apartment buildings. I have never seen one in my apartment - thank goodness! As for security - the management is very good about keeping the tenants informed of any situation that happens around the complex. They usually put notes on everyone's door letting them know when, where and what happened and how to take precautions. They have security guards that ride around on golf carts but you can usually ALWAYS find them in the work out area sitting on a machine, talking on the cell phone or reading a book. My car has been keyed and I beleive about 10 others were keyed that same night.
The apartments are old but that is no excuse for some of the conditions around there. I live in building number 745 West where there is always a broken sewage line beneath a set of stairs. There is toilet paper, feces and I don't want to know what else EVERYWHERE. This overflows to the area all around, and besides that it stinks, it's disgusting. Most of the time you have to walk through it because there's no way around it in order to get to your apartment. It's like living in the slums. They fix it, clean it up and two days later - the same thing happens. I think they just do "quick fixes" to solve the problem for right now but they are not long term solutions. They are just fixes to make whoever complained happy for a few days.
I have the same problem as some other tenants with my water coming out brown. When I turn the water on I usually have to let it run about 5 - 10 minutes until the water comes out clear. My shower is stained from whatever that is. I've bleached it and scrubbed it with everything I can think of and it's still discolored. I know this is an older complex but some things are just UNACCEPTABLE.
Once my lease is up I will NOT sign another one. I don't think the rent is that cheap, in my opinion it's actually overpriced. The management is usally nice when you are talking to them about resigning your lease or about money but other than that, they act as though you are bothering them. I seriously doubt any of the management personnel live on the premises, and if they do, I would hope they would be doing more to resolve some of these disgusting issues. Maybe the maintenance guys but definitly not the management.

I do not feel safe walking from my car to my apartment, which is just a few feet away, at night or during the day.

I do not feel management is doing their part to keep the complex safe or clean.

These apartments could be so much more and were at one time, I am sad and disappointed in what they have become.

The Finger Companies should be embarrased.

Agreed. I will not renew my apartment. I am very dissapointed. 755 has the same brown water problem, I have to clean my tub everyday! I'm afraid to give my dog the rusty water for his health.

You are preaching to the choir. GREAT POST! Spread the word to 745, 735, 725, heck every building. They all need to know about this site so others dont get in the same situation we are placed in. If more read this site...no renewels will take place, and slowly 9900 will crumble like it should have years ago.
