I Would Not Recommend This Complex

I was reading a lot of the other reviews about this complex and I agree. This apartment is awful. When I first moved in, I was lied to. ------- at the leasing office told me the one-bedroom I was looking at is the last one they had, and I felt pressured to lease with them. After I signed the lease and moved in, I found out that there were many units available - huge vacancy. ------- also assured me that they do background checks, implying they only rent to those who pass the background checks (and therefore safe). The first day after I moved in, I found out my neighbor is a convicted felon. The water in the bathroom is brown. My toilet bowel, no matter how often I clean it, is brown because of the brown water. I have written to management (-------) many times but all of my emails were largely ignored. Then I was told there is nothing they can do about the dirty water. The area where my car is parked is always surrounded by mud. My emails to ------- were ignored once again. I had to personally go to the leasing office to complain before anything was done. I could have slipped and hurt myself because my parking spot was so slippery due to the mud. When I first moved in, I advised management that one of the locks on my sliding door was broken. It took 2 weeks for them to get around to fixing my lock, which is a huge safety issue for a woman living alone. My ventilation system had a weird smell, smelled like mold. I told ------- about it and again, it took over two weeks before anyone came out to look at it. Nothing was done because they said the ducts looked clean. If the ducts are clean, how do you account for the smell' My kitchen drain had a foul odor. My neighbor had the same problem with his drain. The maintenance man told me to put ice in the disposal to rid the smell. Maintenance did nothing. It took over three months, a lot of ice and I also threw lemons, lots of lemons, into the garbage disposal to finally get rid of the odor. When I moved in, they had the drain stopper plugging up the drain so that I was not aware of the odor. The construction on I-10 made it impossible to get any sleep. Occasionally water would flood in from the construction site and inundate the parking area so that it was impossible to get to your car without getting your feet wet. There were mice in the adjacent building - I saw 2 stuck in a glue trap. My neighbor said he had 6 in his unit. When I moved out, they charged me 4 days rent because they said I did not return the keys to them, even though I did a walk through with them and gave them the keys. I advised the staff on 2 occasions that I did the walk through and have the walk through papers indicating the keys were returned. They still charged me. I had to go back in person to straighten the mess out.
To be fair, I have never had a problem with the staff. Sure ------- ignored all of my emails about the water, the mud near my parking and the lock issue, but she was always friendly when I saw her. The other staff were always courteous and professional. -------- took care of the mud issue the same day I spoke to her. All in all, the negatives outweigh the positives and I moved out for safety reasons and the construction was driving me nuts. And also, bathing, drinking, and doing my laundry in brown water can't be good for my health.

Yep. Pretty much consistent with my stint at good ole 9900. Management and staff are terrible in my opinion. At least one of them was hot(the mean head lady)...maybe it was just the angry cougar vibe that got me.
