It's Not What They Say It Is

We've lived here for a little over a year, but have definately decided not to renew our lease again. I could write a book on some of the problems we've had here:

1. Screening Process: They gave us hell trying to get in here, all the while using the excuse that they are carefully screening their tenants since they are under new ownership and the old owners let crackheads and criminals move in a destroy the property. But when you look around you see that the same kind of people are moving back in! You have people hanging out all hours of the night. Kids throwing rocks and eggs at the doors, cars being vandalized. I'm very disappointed!

2. Wonderful amenities: They completely mislead us by telling us about all the wonderful features that the newly renovated property will offer.
A. Fitness center on property: It would be great if the machines weren't always broken down.
B. New leasing office with a business center, conference room, movie theatre, lounge area for parties, and a Starbucks coffee (yes they told us that): All of this would have been absolutely wonderful except there is no Starbucks, can only rent out the conference room for 2 hours (period), the lounge area is not open to residents (a staff person told me "because you know how y'all are"), and the business center is only open during the hours that the leasing office is open.
C. Trash Compactor: Sounds great right! Wrong! It's a the back of the apartments, smells horrible, and is awful to look at!

3. Maintenance: Our air conditioning continuously breaks down. We have had to call maintenance at least ten times (this is no exageration). As a matter of fact it's broken down now! We've been waiting for three days. You can't call the leasing office because they never answer and rarely return calls. Oh and that wonderful new carpet is a bunch of bull. Old stains started appearing within the first three months. I can't blow dry my hair without the power blowing out and the electrician told us that the wiring is old and needs to be replaced. I should also mention that there was a fire a few days ago due to faulty wiring. The water pressure is a slow drizzle adn it take forever for the water to get hot.

4. Safety & Cleanliness: The walkways are dark and the tree branches are rarely ever trimmed. The gates on the property are rarely working properly and there is no on-site security. There have been a few break-ins and damages to parked cars as well. There is dog poo everywhere! There are supposed to be pet restrictions but you see the a few pit bulls every now and then. But make sure you take your trash out or they will put a notice on your door if you don't get the chance to make a drive across town to the trash compactor.

5. Management and Staff: I don't think I've ever seen the manager. The staff is very unprofessional and outright rude. There is one particular chubby fellow who is completely out of line. The few rare occassions that I did speak to him he had the audacity to say in so many words that the people on the property are ghetto and tear up stuff all the time. Hence, the reason why they can't allow the tenants to use the new building.

Needless to say we will NOT be renewing our lease, and I will be contacting the property owners very soon. mgFDbN4-dhkSMZ7zRmVH
