Abbey at Briar Forest formerly Bentworth Apartments

the first apartment we ever had together. we looked at the apartments and i loved the new look with the renovations, so i told my boyfriend that this was the apartments i wanted to stay in. our deposit was $568 because we didn't have credit. what a HUGE amount. we paid anyways. moved into the building nov 07, but not one was there at the time. they told us we could have a month free rent for moving in within the week. but they only gave us 2 weeks free. that's so stupid. we were suppose to get a best buy gift card for $500 as well. we didn't get the gift card until like february/march 08. we got our first neighbors, and they was an amazing neighbor. one day they went out of town for the weekend, and someone stold their plant outside. keep in mind we stayed upstairs in the back of the apartments. yet, someone stole their plant. how stupid. my car was broken into twice, because i didn't have an alarm. they took my boyfriend's pair of shoes. how desparate can you be' they also took our mini fridge in the car, and my stereo the second time they broke in. after a couple months, our building was full, and we had pretty awesome neighbors. our ac unit died one day, and maintenance said they had to replace it and when they did, it broke again like two days later. i had a newborn and we called the office to see if they had any extra rooms we could stay in because it was extremely hot and my daughter could of had a heat stroke. they told us they didn't have an extra room for us to stay in. so we had to go somewhere to stay those two nights or so. when they did fix the ac, we called and asked for a reimburstment for the two nights we weren't home off rent or something, but they said they couldn't do that. so we wanted to talk to the manager and she was never in her office, so we never got to talk to her in person. we got tired of them saying they'll call us back, so we contacted corporate. and corporate helped us out and finally the manager called back and gave us a gift card for our reinburstment. let's see. what else... trash wasn't so bad because we stayed in the back, and it was easy to walk it to the dumpster. gates were always broken, but never had a problem getting in and out. never tried the workout center. never went in the pool. mail was alright, sometimes got the wrong mail, but just left it up at the top of the mailboxes. parking was okay in the back. i rarely had to park far away. maintenance was great to us. they always came over and fixed the problem, but they were over a lot because there were lots of problems. we would get our apartment pest control like once a month because we had these little silver fist insects running around the kitchen counter. and we did have roaches outside. so raid was kept in the household. our neighbor downstairs had their window egged for no apparent reason. we did receive notice that there were attempted robbery in the complex, and vandalizm. but not in our building. we had a dog crap on our neighbors front door. and they stay upstairs with us. so i don't know what the dogs owners have against them. we had a dumpster fire one night, which stunk horribly. i don't know what else... when we moved out, we did get most of our money back from the deposit, but no reason why some of it was taken away.
