IT IS DEFINITELY NOT AS BAD AS SOME PEOPLE ARE MAKING IT SOUND

Ok, after reading the many reviews on the Apartment, Ive finally decided to give mine. Ive been a resident here since 2005 in a one bedroom and Ive had a relatively good experience so far. The place is relatively peaceful and beautiful for the busy area it is located in.
If you are relying on the reviews to make a decision, you have to realise that the reviews here are heavily skewed on the negative side. The reason being that, we as human beings tend to comment/complain more mostly when things are going wrong. In other words, when things are going well, people in general wont see the need to take the extra effort to log on to a website to comment.
I read a few of these negative reviews before I moved in, and I admit that for the first few weeks/months, I was kinda paranoid, esp about the car breaking incident, Of course I had an alarm system installed in my car but then I would try to park my car by my window so I can monitor it all through the night (lol) but after a while and nothing happened, I began to relax and started wondering to myself what all the noise was about, its not as if you hear sounds of windows crashing every few mins.
And so far, for the past year and half Ive been here, Ive had a relatively good experience. As I mentioned earlier, I didnt see the need or didnt feel like going through the hassle of going online to comment. But after reading the overwhelming negative reviews, and as a resident who has resided in the apartment for a while, I feel I need to contribute my two cents, especially for those relying on the reviews to make a decision.
You guys, think about it: there are 28 comments out of the hundreds of people that are living here. one thing u might want to consider is that most of the residents here are relatively young working class people who are most likely computer savvy. Dont you think that if the place was really that bad, that more people would have spoken up' or that you would have heard it in the news or somn, since the place is located in a visible area of the city, opposite walmart, sams club and AMC theatres''' Come on, give me a break.
And think about it: how is it that most of the pple who complained about negative things did not mention any positive thing' im sure they must have noticed something positive about the place no matter how small, so that goes back to reinforce my theory about people only wanting to complain when there's something negative. I also know a few people who have been living here since its inception in 2003/04 and are still living here, and so far, its been relatively good for them too.
The Pluses are:
--the location is awesome, close to everything practically: the major freeways (US 59, 610 and bltwy 8) close to grocery
shopping, the mmovies, the galleria, the nice resturants and offices on westheimer, etc
--The apartment community itself is beautiful, and relatively peaceful and quiet, considering its location. The location would not be considered a residential area, bcos its in the middle of everything, so u also have to consider it in that light.
--Its relatively safe too, Im a single female and safety is a huge factor for me. Sometimes I have to come back late because of my job, but so far Ive not had any complaints or reasons to worry. My car has not been broken into and I have a relatively
nice car and park in the open where most pple park
--the trash disposal system contributes to the cleanliness of the community because trash is disposed in only one location(which is by the gate, away from people's apartments) compared to just putting it outside your door to be picked up later which could attract rodents, bad smells and other things like that.
--There's a pretty functional gym and basketball court(which I use all the time), and supposedly a car wash service (which Ive never used, so cant comment much on it)
--there are police officers residing on property, and most of the leasing office staff also reside on the property so it
couldnt possibly be as unsafe and terrible as some people are making it sound
--its considered an A plus apartment and its relatively new, so u get all the bells and whistles: (cost efficient appliances,
washer/dryer in each apt, black on black appliances, garden tubs, etc) again, depending on whats important to you.
--There is private garages and covered parking for a fee (if you're so concerned with parking and safety of your car)
--The staff has been really corteous to me so far, And they respond to complaints in a reasonable amount of time. Ive rarely
had any major complaints tho, mainly bcos the apartment is new so the appliances are relatively new, etc
--Plus, they recently had a drawing for one year free rent! (2nd price was 6mths and 3rd price was 1 month) I didnt win but I mean, that was pretty impressive to me, can u imagine how much you'll save for having a year of free rent for an apt as expensive and nice as this' :)
A few minuses
--The main one is Parking. And I'm speculating that one of the main reasons for this is that, because of the location/visibility/popularity of the apartment, and for whatever other reasons, it seems we have a lot of pple who just come here to hang out with their friends and maybe do sleepovers, and hence, fill up the parking. Also, because its not assigned, you might have a family with multiple cars occuping most of the parking spaces. One thing that I wish management would have done is to ASSIGN PARKING to every apartment so that at least, every apartment would be guaranteed at least a place to park. I sometimes have to come back late, and parking is sometimes a problem.
--Yes, the gate is often broken(and thats bcos people keep running into it, I guess some pple are just so impatient') so that might be a concern to some pple, but so
far in my opinion, that has not hampered the security of the community on any significant level.
--The apartments are pretty pricey, but again, for the newness, location, nice environment, etc one cant really complain. and if u get in on a special, u might be fine.
--The apartments around it are not really nice-looking and are old and cheap, and the walmart and movie theatre right opposite it might attract a certain kind of crowd, but then, it also makes this apartment stand out in terms of the way it looks, and everything
--Yeah the walls are relatively thin, so u could sometimes hear voices and footsteps on top of you, (except u are staying on the 3rd floor), but its not that bad, maybe its just better in the one bedrooms since its just one or two pple livng there. Maybe its worse in the 2 and 3 bedrooms with more pple living in and maybe kids running around and stuff.
So, in conclusion, it really depends on whats important to you, and what u are looking for. But in my opinion, for the
location, the beauty, peacefulness and other things it has to offer, I'll say, the place is worth it, if you can afford it! I'm pretty satisfied and intend to stay here till I am ready to move into a HOUSE!!

So how do you explain the fact that there are several apts on this list that get good rating? Im thinking about moving here and my main complaint at my current place is the managemnt not answering my maintence request timely. that seems to be the main complaint here...i know some people get emotional and just lie but it seems to be a trend in about 80% of the commets for this place...

I have not had problem with matinance.they always fix whatever needs fixing in a timly response not like I have to call theme offten,as for management I have not had a problem, everone in the office is nice an courteous. Now sometimes you may catch someone in a bad mood ,but we are all human....these apts are safe, clean, and everyone I have met around the complex are friendly. Now the gate is always broken, but if people would stop running into it and let one car at a time enter like it is posted on the gate then there would not be a problem and I still feel safe in the complex at night walking my dogs. For the price I pay I have to say these apts have it all washer dryer microwave computer desk large living space / rooms and huge closets and awsome location.what else could I ask for.

hey rudy777 and latinabonita...have you gotten your cars broken into, towed, been charged the wrong amount of rent and gotten an eviction notice? if notshut the ---- up!!! everything negative here is true. we all have jobs and don't have time to waste to type lies. I'm paying $1450 and I expect the managment to kiss my ass.

That's just the wrong attitude to have bere79. The apartment community is located in a busy neighborhood in the middle of Houston - car thefts are bound to happen. With apartment communities, there are bound to be clerical errors that happen occasionally. I certainly don't think it's the end of the world that you were "charged" the wrong amount of rent - just go in a speak with someone in the office about the miscommunication. The eviction notice was probably sent out because the computer might have said you were supposed to pay one amount, and while you paid the correct amount, it might have shown a balance due. Just because you're paying almost $1500/month does not entitle you to be a jackass to people who are simply doing their job.
