A Note for the soon-to-be Tone Deaf

So, we get this Note on our door last night that says an Alanza Brook employee and a Fire Sprinkler contractor were coming inside our apartments today to perform an annual fire inspection. It went on to say that it "would only take approximately 5 minutes and should not be an inconvenience."
The Truth: At around 2:15 PM, all FOUR fire alarms went off inside my apartment at once, along with all the outside building alarms, and kept sounding for nearly 25 minutes. Working on the computer out of my home, I was unable to leave without prior warning. The sound was nothing short of deafening, to the extent that it made me nauseous. My ears are still ringing more than 3 hours later..
First taking some time to recover my wits and calm down, I called and spoke to Mary Ellen (the property manager everyone else here is commenting on). I asked her why the note didn't say that the alarms would be going off during the inspection, let alone for nearly half an hour. She admitted knowing all alarms would go off inside our apartments, but that she didn't think it necessary to warn us because it was the middle of the day when not many tenants were home, and it wasn't going to last that long anyway. Yes, our apartment MANAGER actually regurgitated this. Pointedly, I told her that if FOUR fire alarms are to go off by themselves all at once in our apartment, ANY time during the day, she has to tell us. It's not an option and certainly not rocket science..
Update 7/11/07
Mary Ellen and Jason, an Alanza Brook employee just stopped by and apologized profusely for 'the misunderstanding' the day before, stating that the fire inspection was different last year, but that she should have been more on top of exactly what was going to occur.
It was a nice gesture and well received. You be the judge...

Well at least you got an apology! I got nothing and didn't even get a notice! And my alarms were inspected at nine a.m.! I got woken up by that horrible noise! I actually thought for a moment there was a fire!!! I understand thats its for our safety but 30 min of ear peircing noise is not needed!

She lied to you! I lived there for the first 2 years the complex was open and both of our fire alarms were done the same way! Stay there another year and I'm sure it will be done the exact same way next year.
