The honeymoon is over.... From: jaemscz Date posted: 5/1/2008 Years at this apartment: 2007 - 2008   I moved into this "Galleria Area" apartment back in October since I was renting out my house in Katy to be closer to work. When I toured the property I really liked it, it seemed quiet, and all was well. Unfortunately, I didn't do my homework so here is what I've dealt with for the last 6 months: *Used/Hand-me-down appliances (Was told mine were brand new) when I asked for a replacement, they came and spray painted them ----- to give the illusion of "new" *Unfulfilled maintenance requests: After several calls my A/C was not fixed nor was the mold festering in my vents/bathtub addressed. I called someone externally to do this after a week of waiting. *----- and ----- were really nice at first but after you move in they quickly change their tone, giving you the "I'm too busy for you" look and rush you out the door when you have legitimate concerns. Also ----- is very flirtacious and made several passes at me, while I didn't think anything of it, it's very unprofessional. *I had a situation where I had a job opportunity with the Gov and I was potentially in a situation of pay out of my lease. Originally they told me just give 60 days notice and no problem. So I did, and they sent me a bill for over $5,000.00 not disclosing the fact that I would have to pay the equivalent of five months rent to remit the situation. Needless to say I couldn't afford it. *I had no bad credit, but my Credit/Income ratio was skewed since I carry high balances (and pay 4x min/month). They classified me as "High Risk/Low Acceptance" and charged me 100$ over the 250$ admin fee and a deposit of 1000$ non refundable. I felt like I was buying a car from a last chance dealer. I stupidly agreed to it as I had no where else to go. *As others have mentioned the parking (even in the midrise building where I live) is horrible. I'm lucky to park in my own area most nights. *My car(s) were broken into 5x in the last 6 months. *My sportbike was stolen from the property twice (Lojack saved me there) *The security guards they hire are a joke, they are asleep half the time or on their phone. There is this one ----- guard who claims he is with HPD and works off duty. I asked for his badge number and he gave me some fake number and his name didn't pull up with HPD. How can I trust someone to guard our property when they are not even honest, themselves' *Multiple people were mugged/assaulted at gunpoint here. The crime rating for this complex is higher than a 5th ward apartment. Needless to say, thanks to both my CHL and the Castle Doctrine of Texas, I carry a loaded firearm in case of problems day or night. I hate to resort to this, but "getting to know your neighbors" is pure BS and will not save you from having your life snuffed out or your car stolen. The management are entirely clueless when it comes to property safety. *The gate is ALWAYS broken, they blame the fire department when the fire department has keys, and they won't fix for a week at times. *$40.00 for water/sewage' I paid 20$ for my house and it was 8x the size...come on guys...' *Insulation in this apartment is horrible, my apartment is constantly burning up with heat and never cools down. My electric bill is in the hundreds on a cool month even. Now I will say, they recently procured a new manager, ----. She is really awesome and seems to truly care about us. Whenever I talk to her, she actually listens and doesn't treat me like some foolish youngster. If she can't fix something, at least she is straight up about it and won't blow smoke at me... Would I ever rent here again' Absolutely not.... I miss Augusta Court. I intend to move back there as soon as my lease is up here. I hate moving again, but what are you going to do'
