Allen House posted a notice on all residents' doors yesterday saying that a man was robbed at gunpoint on Allen House property yesterday.
Good to know if you're going to rent here. I'm not usually one to voice opinion, but I thought potential residents should know.

I work in the office and I wanted to comment on this specific review. Crime obviously has no address and we are in the 4th largest city in the United States. I would think that rather than knocking the Allen House down for letting its residents know of what is happening on the property that you would be commending us. I advise potential residents to call the Houston Police department and check us out with them. We have very good repport with them and in fact we have 2 Houston Police Officers on the property and 1 Harris County Constable that also lives on the property. We have over 897 apartments and span 4 city blocks; I think we do our absolute best to keep our residents happy and most importantly AWARE of what is going on. Thank You! |

Jroe, lets be hoenst, a 4 foot gate doesnt do much. If someone wants to get in, someone is going to get in.

The incident happend outside of the gate?? How would a broken gate prevent it...

Having officers on property doesn't prevent crime. It either says a little something about amount of crime at the property or the discount they get. Living at Allen House, there are no 4-foot gates on the property. Truth is a broken gate is easy access for a quick crime. Whether the crime happens inside the gate or out, it might not be the responsibility of the property company to establish security, but it certainly would eliminate these types of discussions. Also, the community has to be involved--meaning if you know something is wrong or broken, tell the office immediately. The neighborhood is as secure as its residents really want it (effort and money).

o.k I see your point, but the broken gate is in front of the maintence department!!!! I know that a gate cannot prevent anyone from getting in, I feel just a little better knowing that a gate is working the way that It is supposed to. We(residents) pay a lot of money to live in a area of town that is supposed to be safe(not saying that it is or is not). Fix the things that are broken in a timely manner. Why should a gate be broken that long or anything for that fact. |
